Status: offline 		I was able to visit with RPRCBuilder this afternoon, and the TF 1/7 scale build is coming along great.
The Robart 605 HD’s may be here tomorrow.

Sonny, you will like this. I went to pick up the wing and RPRC told me to be careful because he has one patch on the skin where his finger went through it.

I am now looking to buy some of that 1/4 oz glass, you have any leads?

I went with the .73 oz cloth. My order should be in sometime next week. Yes the wing sheeting is thin!!! Also tell RPRCBulider to watch the side sheeting on the fuse. I have to re-place the left side after it split right down the center during over night drying!!! Let me know how the Robart 605 HD work for you!!!

I see RPRCBuilder went with the webbing sheets from the wing root to the tip on the wing build. Very smart move!!! I also did the webbing around the landing gear block and fuel proof it!!!

It is a sheeted wing so it needs to be sanded to eliminate the glue joints and any other flaws. It is surprising the difference when 3/32 is used, it leaves a enough sanding stock that it ends up about 1/16 thick.

You are so right!! I came very close of sanding through the sheeting on the wings. I did only the glue joints and filling just to get them smooth. I will sand the wings one more time before I glass them. I do love this kit to the point I may pick up one more, before Top Flite drop this kit!!

Not sure what everyone else does, but, I lay out an overall size of the sheeting required and then organize them so no seams line up and tape them together with masking tape along each seam. Then on other side, I fold the seams back on the tape to open up the joint and add wood glue. Lay it down taped side down and add small weights to the sheeting to hold it flat on a table or floor. Be sure to wipe off all the wood glue with a damp rag that squeezes out of the joints. After the glud dries, I sand the sheeting by holding it down on a flat surface to level the glue areas then turn it over and remove tape. Sand that side also. Use a 3 or 4 inch wide sanding board so you dont gouge the wood. Now you have a pre sanded sheeting to apply to your wing frame

You dont tend to over sand this way and sand through in spots where a rib might have it raised a little too much.

To hold the sheeting down on the contour of the ribs, well, I use all those years of collected AMA mags just spread them out over the sheeting untill its held down evenly. You might have to pin the leading edge to get it to make contact with the leading edge.

Been using this way for years and it works good for me.

Im sure there are other ways just as good as this. Just my two cents. Good luck with it.

I sold my C47 molds and tooling today. I didnt know how much room all that stuff took up but now my shop looks empty I got to finish one more project and then the CJM Spitfire is coming down off the rack to get started on it. Its going to fly this year or else lol.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here as well.   -9c and 30cm of white stuff on the ground.  Tree is up and needs to be decorated.  
Actually that's one of my favorite past times due to 
all the Egg Nog I can handle (naturally with Captain Morgan) 
The only thing missing is maybe another Spitfire? (Any idea if Santa reads our posts?)

I am waiting for my pilot figure to come in from Tower Hobbies.  Hopefully next week.  
Have made some more mods to the cockpit.  I built and installed the voltage regulator behind
the seat wall and made some mock oxygen tanks on the left rear.
I will try to get the robostrut 650's installed next week.  I finally had some time to pick up some
JB weld at the local automotive store, as it was recommended by robart to use.

Will upload some pictures when this is done.

Yes, I know the oxygen tanks should be flat on the right side behind the seat, but
can't see them that way through the canopy when it's on.
I am not sure which warbird has them
on the left side standing up.
I saw it somewhere on the net.

Does Yellow aircraft still carry cockpit kits, if so does anyone remember how much they are. I will have to get a new canopy because mine has a huge hole in it, anyone got one of these laying around they would sell.

Let me be the first to say, Welcome to the Spitfire Brotherhood. While I may not be able to give you any info on the model you are looking at, but, there are a few brother's ( me for one ), is building the Top Flite Spitfire MKIX Gold Edition kit. Look back in the thread for more info on the build of this bird. What ever model you pick, the brotherhood is here and growing!!

Phat, You might as well do a couple of extra scale items on the cockpit while you have it apart. I added a gunsight to my H9 Spitfire and am thinking of doing a couple of other minor cockpit details while I'm waiting for the gear legs to come for my electric retracts. the rear view mirror is a real **** to manufacture, and fragile. I may not put that on this one.
