The rivets are really looking good. Be sure to post a photo when complete.

I am sure you have thought of this, but try some on a test part and see how it works. I have started painting with latex paint and have learned there is now flat clear latex. It is said you can paint latex over any other materials because it is water base.
I especially like the water cleanup. I use to spend along time cleaning my guns with expensive thinners, but now all water.

Status: offline 		Fellas - this plane looks like some ****-ized P-4o-sorta-P51 kinda like a Spitfire in the wrong "colors" (country).
Other than those things - is this a bona fide Spit ?  Would it work with a DL 30 RA ?  or not enough there?

I'll check out the local hardware store for a waterbase flat clear.
Brands like Minwax or Varathane come to mind.  Will give that a test try
and see.
If it doesn't work on my plane, I am sure that I will be using it on the
next kitchen corner bench project that my wife has for me.

Status: offline 		For the money I would go with the smaller ESM Spitfire, your engine is about the right range as well. One thing is for sure...the ESM plane looks much better than that one. Although it is Spitfire like, it's pretty wrong.

This is also sold by the World Models as the GS 160 Spitfire. I had one of these and it is put together fairly well. I had it fitted out with a Moki 210 and Jtec wrap around muffler. The Canopy was awful looking and would have replaced it had I kept the plane
The Wing was good and sturdy and might have benefited from a little extra dihedral , 3 servo's in each panel: Aileron, Flap and Retract.
Covering needed only light touches and heat gun to shrink it back.

Tail feathers were Pull/Pull
Fuselage bottom, aft of the wing is flat...
Stab was also a problem being that it's shape appeared to be a mix of different marks.

It's sold as a Spitfire, the wing looks very good and the fuse not so, just looks like a cousin
Markings on the wing are post WWII, and on the fuse roundels of WWII - maybe they were trying for the Spiteful.....

For my money, I'd splash out on the ESM model

I was wondering about that myself and did a test iron tightening on my scrap p51 fuslage.
It seemed to work.  That was with the testors dullcoat.  However, it was a test on monokote that
had been put onto balsa and due to age might not wrinkle or shrink much any more.
I have a scrap wing and I will use testors dull coat and satin varathane water base side by side.
This will show me what happens to unsuported painted monokote between the ribs when it shrinks.
It'll depend on the flexabliity of the applied clear coat.
Will see how that works.  If it doesn't, then I have the fun time of taking the rivets back off.
That, I did test and they come off without any markings on the monokote, as it is canopy glue.

I will give some updates once more testing has been done.

Status: offline 		WOW I made it into the brotherhood, number "155" Here are a couple of pictures of my Yellow Spitfire I got, I will have to replace the canopy and will take out the S.T. 3200 and put in a DL50 in it's place.

I think we all know exactly what your statement means this time of the year, but I can't help sharing what jumped into my mind when I first read it. Being the WARBIRD enthusiast that you are, I'm thinking you probably saw the movie, "The War Lover" staring Steve McQueen as the charismatic psychopath "Buzz Rickson." Anyway, it was that scene near the end of the movie where our hero was desperately busy trying to get his shot up B-17 to fly high enough to clear the "White Cliffs of Dover." I may have been somewhat influenced by a certain cliff that is getting close and closer according to the media. So, maybe turning as much contemporary reality as we can into an opportunity to enjoy WWII nostalgia can help us deal with the inevitable.

And as Happy a New Year as circumstances will allow compliments of Spitfire pleasures, to all!

One quick question. As you well know, I am glassing my Spit and the cloth came today!!! What is a good epoxy resin to use?? The last time I did glass work was back in the late 70's!!

Status: online 		Most seem to be using Zap or West Systems. I have used Zap with good results. I have done some testing with Minwax Polycrylic and i believe when the time comes i will use Minwax.
