Hey Squad Mates,

Really like the collared & pocketed shirt nomination, and the flag & roundel really seem a good contrast to the blue in pitcure 3.
That's my vote!

BoneMadDerek, Don't mean to change the subject, but have a Saito FA115, as yet unrun, and wondered of your engine change to an OS FS110a. Would like your thoughts on the 2 engines.

Many Thanx

I'm in for a shirt whatever the color. I'd prefer it not to have a collar but that won't be a deal breaker for me.

Here are a couple of my Spit shots from the Planes of Fame airshow in Chino, California. I have others but they are pre-digital camera so I need to have them scanned.

I like color #3 also. When I go to an event, I want to stand out, not blend in

Also, the collar is fine with me as with a pocket. My only concern is how its made. Light weight material and most shirts that fit me have too short of a tail. I wear a 2x and long tail. Im long waisted ...not wasted...LOL.

I like the cap idea also

“We have some good recommendations so far. If anyone has more to offer I am keeping track for all to see until we go to production”.

I will be able to give a quote per shirt once we decide on style, design, and numbers needed.

• dasintex: Frontal View Drawing on the back

• dasintex :'Spitfire Brotherhood Squadron' on the Front Pocket or on the opposite side of the Pocket.

• tevans55 : Collared shirts

• aerofalcon : We have a donated Pic as a possible outline and/or silkscreen

• dasintex : Vote as to the color of the T-Shirts; my vote would be for RAF Blue

• dennymo : I agree. RAF blue is right on

• jet22b : My vote is for the RAF Color

• Brad330l : “RAF Blue” This is my vote as well

WARBIRDRCER: I VOTE on shirts with a collar, a pocket, and RAF Blue.

Here are the samples I found on the RAF Blue.

Warbirdguy: the collar is fine with me as with a pocket. My only concern is how its made. Light weight material

Chad Veich: whatever the color. I'd prefer it not to have a collar

Trimphman49: Really like the collared & pocketed shirt nomination, and the flag & roundel really seem a good contrast to the blue in pitcure 3

Jet22b: I like color #3!!

dusintex: I like that middle color sample; and my vote would be for Collared Shirt with a Pocket

Warbirdguy: I like color #3 also

Style Shirt:
5 with collar
1 no collar

5 with pocket
0 no pocket

Color:
5 RAF Blue:
Photo 1. The color RAF Blue is actually what is called Azure Blue. The Testers bottle in photo this photo is the most accurate if we are looking for actual RAF blue. Votes:

Photo 2. Is from a color chip for Azure Blue. Votes: 1

Photo 3. The flag’s blue. Votes: 3

One quick question. On the Spit with the twin prop, did they fly it at the show??? Was this a mod to the airframe or did it go in service back in WWII??
Thanks for the info!!

Hi Sonny,

The Spitfire did indeed fly during the show and the sight and sound were spectacular. There were a number of different Spitfires which were tested with contra-prop set up during the war but the only version that ever saw production was the post-war FR.47 Seafire. The one in my pictures is a photo recon Mk.XIX which had the original engine and prop replaced with units taken from an Avro Shackleton patrol bomber. Apparently the original 5-bladed wooden propeller is very hard to come by and VERY expensive so the decision was made to swap it for the relatively much more common Shackleton power package. The airplane has since been sold to a new owner in France who has returned it back to stock condition.

I have an idea, but need your feedback. Although the Spitfire was a primary aircraft for the RAF in England, it was also flown during WWII and after by several other countries.

See List: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Supermarine_Spitfire_operators#.C2.A0Germany

What do you think of the idea of having a Spitfire in it’s commonly seen camo color on the shirts back centered, encircled by flags from all countries that flew them. The front could have our groups name; Spitfire Brotherhood and number. This would encompass anyone who fly’s a Spitfire and support all Spitfire markings with-in the brotherhood’s squadron.

Thoughts?

I think Mick is the only place you can get it from. or you could try the clark cowl and canopy.

Chad;
Thank you so very much for the info. I hope the new owner still fly her. Planes like the warbird are best seen in the air and not in the hangar.
Thanks, again!!!

She still flies in France Sonny and has been re-engined and repainted as seen below. I preferred the PR blue paint job and the contra-prop but at least it is well cared for and flown regularly.

That would be cool, except it may be getting too complicated of a design to do cheap enough; simple is always better; but that's just my opinion 'like the saying 'KISS' - Keep it simple, (you can fill in the last word).

Doug.

I like your idea of the Spitfire on the back with circle of flags. Perhaps the first thing to do would be to design a Spitfire Brotherhood logo that ties everything together and could be used for identity on clothing, communications and even flight boxes. A logo would also promote the brotherhood through high identity at club meetings, flying fields and events.

Great idea, I will look into it and have a couple of artist friends give me some examples to present. Everyone else please do the same, but please make sure it is something we can present in a digitized format.

I'm in!

Just finishing up my Ziroli Mk 1a Spitty. This is one is built from the first plan set that Nick sold of the Spit.

I will be finishing mine as DW-K. My buddy is finishing his too as DW-O.

Robart prototype Retracts designed specifically for the new spit, not the Yellow retract version that is recommended.

Robart Wheels, ZDZ 80 for power and all Hitec Servos.

Builders note: The parts Nick sells (which are very good) are for a Mk Vb only. So I made a new Front windscreen, exhaust stacks and oil cooler.

Will post pics of finished Spitty in the next month.

Cheers,

Chuck

Hi Chuck! Your Spitty looks fantastic but, I must ask, are you planning to fly it inverted all the time?!!! Can't wait to see pics of the finished airplane.
