hey everyone, i have an opportunity to pick up an Iroquois 60 that is assembled and has a rossi 60 in it complete and ready to fly radio the works for 250$. the thing has never been started, in the air, or even fueled up. all the radio gear will need to be replaced due to the fact that its ancient. here is my big question though, how hard is it going to be to convert this beautiful heli to brushless? i have only got experience with electrics. i own an msr, an axe cp and a blade 400. im really looking to do a nice scale bird and when my buddy told me after all the years of being a shelf queen that he was gonna sell the Iroquois i started drooling. I've done some google searching and some searching on the board and have seen a few 30 size hirobo projects floating around but not alot in the way of the Iroquois 60. also i know its asking alot but i also kinda want to put a clutch on the brushless motor so the rotor head spools up. i also figured a big brushless with a clutch would sound alot more like a spooling turbine than a nitro motor would.

am i asking to much/ barking up the wrong tree? any input would be helpful

Sounds like a great deal and a cool project but it probably won't be worth the time and effort to convert a scale nitro heli to electric unless you can find a purpose built nitro to electric conversion kit for the Hirobo. If Hirobo offers an electric version of their 60 size nitro then you may be better off buying the electric mechanics and re-installing in the scale fuse. Why not leave the nitro mechanics in and get her flying as is?

Click this - Krumrick2 and take a look at some of the conversions he has done with various nitro to E power birds.
