Hello friends I am currently looking for two types of RC Cars:

A Toy Grade RC Car that is decently fast that I can play in the house
And a Hobby Grade RC Car that wont break bank but can drift and whatnot with headlights

If theres any suggestions lemme know! Thanks!

Edit: Also looking for a tuner style car

Edit: Also getting a nitro or gas power car.

I'm going to recommend the Tamiya TT-01D as the drift cars. They are very simple to assemble and very durable. The TT-01 chassis has been around a long time so there are aftermarket parts available. Replacement parts are also easy to get you hands on should you need them.

As for the toy grade RC. Honestly don't waste your money. You will spend, $50-$100 on some picec of junk that has no parts support. When it breaks it's junk and you get to throw it in the trash. I would recommend you shop Craigslist, Ebay or even here on RCU and find a used hobby grade RC. I've seen numerous old Rustlers and Pede's sell for under $100. Used Evaders sometimes go for half that. While an Evader is not the best car out there it is a far cry better than the best toy grade and you can get parts. If you're looking for something to play with in the house look for a 1/16 scale. Tamiya makes mini versions of the Fox, Hotshot and a few other models and they are cheap. You can find them by searching for GB-01, GB-02 and GB-03 chassis.

That is a good 1 but take note that one requires a radio and servo. Plus it is a kit, you have to build it. I like that, but it sounds like you want to get right out there. Chech tower hobbies for the tt01, they have some almost rtr, pretty reasonable price too.

for the in the house you can look at the RC18's, HPI Recon, Megatech Megapro, Propulse (the HPI, megatech, and propulse are almost exactly same thing just 2 minor differences), and the losi 1/24th scale SCT all of which are $130 and under (the megapro is $70)

Megapro http://www.rchobbyexplosion.com/MEGATECH_MEGAPRO_OFF_ROAD_18th_TRUCK_p/mtsv-107.htm Comes with an am radio
Recon http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBNKT&P=ML Comes with a 2.4ghz radio (use the megapro parts for repair they are cheaper)
RC18b http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLPP8&P=7 (I got one last month off ebay NIB for $20 less)
RC18B2 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZVS1**&P=7 (newer RC18b read some complaints on the belts)
Losi 1/24th scale http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_44_109/products_id/183539/n/Losi-1-24-Micro-4WD-Short-Course-Truck-RTR (my complaint on the losi minis is poor range, and the radio is built in the ESC so its non-upgradeable outside shelling out almost as much as the RC in parts)

The above go around 10-12 mph which is more than enough for use in a house unless you live in a mansion

something that goes really fast also breaks really fast too.

ive had cars/trucks that hit 60 and even past 80mph, they where fun, but i like the ones that do 30 to 50mph better, at full clock you make a wrong move and the thing is most likely toast with one that does over 50mph. plus if its a drift car a stocker motor and 25-30mph is all you want.

if your new, 20mph is going to feel blazing fast, and something that goes past 50mph is going to feel like a bullet.

drift? tamiya i would say, if you dont want to build, ofna i think makes a good looking drift "kit" that is 80% built, so just place the electronics mount the tires and rip!

i also think "redcat" makes a RTR drift car, they are not the best out there, but not a bad deal and rtr with decent parts support.

the E10 is a waste of money. Seen so many people defend it then a few months later say its junk. I had the EB10 which uses like 80% of the same parts, and it was pure trash (I ONLY had issues with the parts the 2 share which there were no upgrades to)

The TT01e is vastly superior, has a ton of hop-up parts (the E10 last I looked only has an aluminum drive shaft as a hop-up), can handle brushless easily(if you really want speed), and is cheaper...

Only thing I would recommend is to get HPI #85032 ($7) use the long posts included in that part instead of the tamiya posts just screw them into the front bumper where there are 2 unused holes Only say this cause the HPI body I used there were vents right where the tamiya ones would have came thru the body.

For an indoor basher, I would totally recommend the Team Losi Micro T. $79.99 ready to run. Small enough for the house and is very durable and quick.....
