Hi all. Im new to the forum and hoping i can get some help here i just picked up this x-cellerator from buddy of mine and cant get the thing to start for the life of me. I torn the motor apart and reassembled it and it all looks fine. It has good compression but wont kick on. I have a hpi roto start. The truck puts but never fired of or if it does for a breif second the turns off. I got it to fire up last night for a quick sec. When it did fire off fuel shot out of the exhaust. any help would be appreciated. Ill try and post a video tommorrow.

Was the car running when you bought it ?
Check your glo plug...take the plug out of the engine and put it in the igniter.
It should turn bright red.

Another thing, when you took the engine apart and put it back together you may have moved the
carb needles. Check the manual or look up the manual online to find factory settings.

Also check entire fuel delivery system for dirt / debris from tank, fuel lines, and carburetor.

If it was spitting fuel out the pipe sounds like its too rich and is bogging down. I would put the needle back to manufacturers recommended break in setting, stock setting, and then try again. You will probably have to still lean it out a bit to get it perfect since its used and stock setting is usually a little rich for break in proceedure.

Factory needle settings for the X-Cel : HSN: 3 turns out from bottom    LSN: 5 turns out from bottom
