Status: offline 		i got this engine in some trade stuff. so i was gonna run it in test stand to check it out. i got to the point of starting and found the glowplug here. what was OS thinking here.
engine is an old OS 90fs. i think im gonna pass on this situation.

Status: offline 		Looks like the prop just clears it. What is the problem? 
 
A couple of alligator clips and a D cell might be helpful in this situation.

Status: offline 		When this engine was designed, everyone, used a right angle glow plug connector shaped like a spring type clothes pin.

Now people use a short remote glow adapter fastened somewhere behind the engine. And that is where you connect your igniter.

Status: offline 		do yall know how old this OS is ? also it has what appears to be a pump as part of the back plate. is it a pump ? i just couldnt believe they set this engine up like this. seems kinda dangerous for the mass.

First introduced in 1983: http://osengines.com/history/ostimeline10 The FS-91S shows up in 1988.

Two choices for dealing with the plug are an onboard glow driver or a remote connection.

Status: offline 		Resulted from their design choice of putting the cam and pushrods at the rear of the engine. Likely easier to put the cam on the end of the crank rather than between the crank throw and prop drive.

Status: offline 		yeah the old early version OS 4 stroke engines and the Enya 4 stroke engines all have a front angled glow plug on them like that.
You need to use a glow plug adapter or use a angled clip like they used many years ago, or a pair of aligator clips.

Here is a Enya engine glow plug adapter used so one can use our modern nicad glow ignitors on the engines. This puts the ignitor back behind the engine in a safer location.

Status: offline 		I think the prevailing theory was: Put the pushrods behind the head to protect them in case of a crash. Makes sense - until you realize that most people are not going to buy a special glow clip

Status: offline 		There were more of this version of an OS 15cc four-stroke flying at our club field in the early nineties than there were front pushrod engines. They ran fine, made adequate power and had an endearing miss at high throttle, just like the Enya four-strokes they emulated.

Status: offline 		They have a great sound, a little different than the Surpass. I have one in a VQ Hurricane with a 13/8 TF wood prop. I need to slow him down though.

Status: offline 		I've got one of the FS-90 engines. I really like it a lot. I use an old GloBee Fire plug and a regular Sullivan glow plug clip.

It idles so slow that I just reach in and disconnect the glow plug clip before the other propeller blade has time to come around....

I got int rc back in 1984.  Grew to love and own many of the .40 fp.  Maybe my eyesight is going but for the life of me I cant find it at that website below.  When did the 40 Fp show up on scene?
