John,

My Dealer just called to let us know that he had been invoiced for the EP motor mounts and battery tray kits. We are supposed to have them by July 25th.   This should end our long wait for components for the Jug.
Thanks for responding!

Doug

I'm building the Hanger9 p47 30cc and i found that after installing my electric retracts that i didn't care for how the main doors fit the wheel well it seemed like they would have caught air causing them to bend down in flight so i thought it over and came up with the idea of forming it to roll to the LE.I carefully heated it up with the covering iron with the wheel on and got it to form to the LE. Past building experiance helped but this is just an idea for someone else not a complaint this is still a great design..

Mr Redman,

I was in the LHS yesterday and looked at the p-47 up close, very nice. The box and manual included talked about a saito four stroke set up, specifically the fg-20. I love the saito but that seems a little small. I noticed the online manual makes no refernce to it, so i am thinking they abandooned that recommendation after the first shipment maybe?

Could you enlighten me on what HH's thoughts are for a four stroke? FG-30, FG-36? Thanks for your time, hoping Santa comes early this year.

Wish moki made a little radial......

Cv580,

I am at a loss for words on the Saito four stroke recommendations. I am wondering if you are referring to the original 150 P-47. The new 30cc version has no reference to an engine except the Evo 40 that I am aware of. I am guessing the P-47 you looked at was the olive drab version that has been discontinued. I believe the FG-36 would fly it fine. I have no idea on firewall spacing for the engine though.

found a cool idea for the guns on the p47 30cc.I used a 1/16" drill bit and drilled holes on the sides and offset them to give them a realistic look.It was easy and added a complete new look.next,i took a 1/4" drill bit and just barely reamed out the end and then painted them flat black. You wouldnt think, but these guns look really cool.

We've checked the manual, and it says nothing about the FG-20. We're pretty sure the box art only shows the Power 160 and the Evolution 40GX. Not sure where you're seeing this?

Hi All.

My "Box" shows 3 power "sources"............Electric,Evo 40GX and Saito FG30........Templates for engine mounting included one for the Saito FG30......... Would therfore suggest that the Saito FG30 /FG36 is ok for the Kit.

As you know,I have fitted the OS 55GT Petrol.

Hope all your builds going well............should get up soon my photos of the nav / re-tracting landing light fixings ( gone for the wing mounted landing light).................just a couple of "niggles" to sort out, but, pleased to say all working !!!!)

Cheers.................Nick (UK).

My motor mount/battery tray backorder arrived last Wednesday and when I opened the package I was surprised to see a sealed bag with the lite ply parts for the battery tray but no motor mount! I called Horizon on Wednesday and spoke to a customer service gal and she said she would check with product support and see if there was anything that could be done as the kit is once again back ordered and not expected to be in stock until November. She said she would call me back the next day but, we'll I guess she forgot.

Mr. Redman... if you're not using that motor mount box for the Power 160 that is in one of the video segments, I'd sure like to have it so I can fly this season.

Hi Guys.

Thought I would post my progress with the landing light / wing nav lighting.
I needed access to the pitot-tube area on the wing ( hoping to install telemetry for air-speed ),so I thought I would try to fit in the retracting landing light there or as close as I could........looking at the info that I have on the full-size,it would appear that on the "bubble top",the landing light can be in either of two places.........behind the U/C on the port side or the underside of the port wing tip ( worst place !!! so I found out !!! ).
Basic parts are : 26mm dia reflector ( didn't want to go to scale small here ),off-set hinge,micro-servo ( Spektrum DSP60 programmable ),micro switch + wire.........SHOULD HAVE ATTENDED A QUICKIE COURSE ON KEY-HOLE SURGERY BEFORE DOING THIS LANDING LIGHT !!!
The Nav LED,s are std 5mm dia hi- intensity, runnng on 6volts,but with a resistor in line to drop the volts..........Landing light is a "Power-Chip",again running on a 6volts with a resistor to drop the volts down. The arm on the retraction servo operating the micro-switch......I have made the module plug in,so easy to do maintenance.

Thought I would "slave" the landing light servo with the flaps ( having set the end points on the micro-servo,does not matter where the flap servo position is,once switched to say half flaps, landing light will extend to full position + it is slowed with the servo speed control of the flaps ).The Nav lights will just be a manual switch ( at the moment ).

I still have to finish the "cosmetics" of the landing light module + the nav light lens surround............but thought I would post at this point

I may have to change out the landing light servo as it does "chatter" a bit,but no stalling as I have checked the current drain and it is very low.....to zero on the extension and retraction end points !!!

These are the photo's.......

Hey Curtis, that motor box ended up in the SEFF demo model that is still alive so I unfortunately do not have one for you. I talked with Bill Brundle over lunch and I think there should be some here a bit later this week. I will keep you informed.

Rock on brother. Due to budget constraints in my household (wife took all my money and won't give me an allowance) I don't think I can get you over here to put them in. Maybe next time.

Keep on doing what you do, she will be awesome when complete!!!!!!

I went back to the LHS, and I was mistaken on the size of the motor, but will confirm what njmheli reported, the box clearly lists on the side (3) options, to include the FG-30. The manual does not talk about it, but it is listed on the side of the box, and it is the newer P-47, not the discontinued one.

Makes no never mind to me, but would have been nice to have it in the manual as well. I will search out an FG-30 or -36 (like to get the motor first) and go from there. I was wrong when citing it opted for the -20, but it does show a four stroke option. Did HH fly it on a -30?

Hi Guys.

This is the link for the web-site that I found to "source" the lighting............( Bit mind blowing when you first see the site and all the info....but he does do some intetresting lighting devices :cockpit lighting and there are some devices for the "formation lights" if you are going to d these on the P-47.

GIVE IT A LOOK

http://www.lightingforaeromodels.co.uk/

It is a bit of an "intense" web-site,lots of info..........it's all there,so have a careful read.Ross who owns the company is a great character.......knows his stuff ( he is a retired Air Traffic Controller ),started off by doing minature lighting for model trains.

The items are a very good price and he will ship overseas to customers........again,lots of info to take in,as long as you state the voltage that you will be using,he will supply all the necessary "resistors" to lower the volts for EACH lighting device ( as they all will require a different value of resistor, different colours require a different operating voltage ).

If you can solder two wires together.........job done, very easy !!! ( NOTE : you do not need a massive soldering iron !!!,smaller the better......as Ross says : it's not as if you are soldering lead pipes together !!! ).

Cheers..............Nick.

ANYBODY ELSE GOING TO POST SOME "BUILD PHOTOS" ?????????????
