Hello,

I have been reading about LIFE batteries and I haven't really found too much about them other than they are a good substitute for li-po. I am getting ready to build my first giant scale warbird and would like to know which battery charger you are using with your LIFE batteries, what size of battery, and if there are any other good threads you recommend reading about the batteries.

I was looking at hobbyking.com for a life/ni-mh charger and the turnigy accucel 6 looked good, but I have never ordered from them and don't know if there stuff is legit or crap. Can you recommend for or against this charger? I want a charger that can do both as I am short 1 ni-mh charger as it is. Here are 2 that I am looking at. Thanks for the help!

I use the Hobby King accucell chargers. At $22 you can consider them "disposable". If they fail you just throw them away, its not cost effecive to send them back for repair. They work great but the most common problem I have with them is with the buttons. I would recommend them but just consider you get what you pay for. At $22 order 2 or 3 and be happy.

My Accucell 6 chargers from Hobby King work well on my LiFe Packs but read my post on The Accucell 6 and LiFe Discharge. They are set to too low a discharge voltage and give errors. Have not found a way to set the discharge voltage in the life setting so I just discharge on the 5 cell nimh setting to check capacity. I set the discharge cutoff voltage to 5.2 or so. Works fine. Do NOT charge on the NiMh setting or cycle them on that setting!

The HK charger should work fine, I also use a FMA Multi 4 charger and balance charge right thru my switch/charge jack.

I'm putting these in a TF giant P51. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14060

Good reading on A123 and life batteries on Hangtimes website.

http://www.hangtimes.com/a123_batteries_for_giants_faq.html Lots of info on Life chemistry.

http://www.hangtimes.com/a123rxsetup.html Info on set ups. About 3/4's the way down you will see info about the Simple 3 Wire Switch Feed For 2nd Generation Chargers. This is the setup I use with my FMA multi 4 for balance charging thru my switch.

For the HK life batteries I open the pack up and solder on a simple 3 wire 20ga Futaba plug end.
