I went to the premium/professional mower shop in my town today searching for Oregon 07-266 tubing and felt clunks. While they didn't have the tubing I was looking for, knowing what I wanted to use it for, the counter guy showed me some black tubing that he described as what Stihl was using in their equipment now. I had never seen it before but the guy at the shop said that it seems to stay pretty flexible. I bough a couple feet to give it a try.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of it?

Here is a picture of it:

I buy big lots of used yard equipment. Some I repair and sell, some I pirate the engines for airplanes. The Stihl fuel lines are the best out of all the brands I have serviced; even better than Echo. If this new line you got is anything like the old stuff; it's golden.

Let us know how it works,

Sweet. Thanks for letting me know.

I've just plumbed a new Fiji Water gas tank with it. I'll probably use tygon to run from the tank to the engine so I can see if I'm sucking air.

I hope to have some gas in it tomorrow.

I use that style and it is good and flexible. However, it does stretch after time and its best to use cable ties (smallest size) inside the fuel bottle to stop anything falling off. It can also get brittle after several years of use and split. Not being transparent, it is tempting to use Tygon on the final tube to the carby so you can eyeball any air in the line.

Possibly that's re-badged 'Viton' tubing.
If so, it's top notch stuff!

Most rubber products made now do not last like they did years ago.  My opinion is that the makers like it that way.  That way they can keep selling you more rubber made products. Price some of the small rubber parts  found on many products. The prce is a all out ripp-off.  Like the cable covers on a motorcycle.  Most anything rubber is way over priced.
Its kinda like selling a car and the dealers make more $$$ on service and replacing whatever goes bad. If they plan for more parts to go bad....the more they make.    I put this under the heading of.... The "fleecing of America"   Capt,n

Very true!

Simplest easiest item to note such change is the rubber bands we use to hold down wings on some models.
Used to be true rubber, now it's a synthetic mix of crap.

The other factor is that the EPA keeps outlawing all the good chemicals. That makes the manufacturers have to use other methods that usually end up with two results; an inferior product that costs more.

You can't even buy good paint anymore. Ever wonder why you see so many cars now with faded and peeling paint? Thank the EPA.

Mineral spirits used to be dirt cheap and great for cleaning parts. Now, IF you can even find it, it is heading for 20 bucks a gallon!

Aviator hit it.... I worked for Gates Rubber Company almost 20 years ago in high pressure, high performance hose manufacture. I designed some of the hydraulic products and compounded some of the rubber stocks. EPA had quite a bit to do with raw material changes which caused us chemies headaches galore in figuring out new solutions. In many cases we developed new chemicals that were safer and worked just as well, but I don't recall one instance where the new stuff worked better than the old.

BTW- there is only one rubber raw material that is non-synthetic. It isn't the best and it isn't the worst. They all have their strengths and weaknesses including Fluorosilicones and Vitons which are at the top of the synthetic heap
