I resurected an old Cox Pits control line biplane I had when I was a child. I noticed that the motor no longer turns, I assume it is all gummed up with castor oil (I hope). What is the process for cleaning these things up? I've heard something about boiling them?

Status: offline 		usually a few drops of 3-1 oil or ATF at the exhaust ports and a light warming with a hair dryer while easily trying to turn the prop will free it up before it gets too hot to hold. Todd

Status: offline 		If it's not siezed due to rust and is indeed gummed up with castor... fill a pie plate with model fuel and drop the engine in for a few hours...preferably room temp. Remove the glow plug and backplate/tank first, if possible.

Then work it loose with further soaking if required

Worked like a charm! Sounds like it will fire right up. Glow plug works too!

Like I need another project... I would like to clean up the plastic a little better, any thoughts? It's a little fuel soaked.

I found a new gear set on Ebay with wheels. I figure what the heck, why not get it in flight ready status? quickie little project....

Status: online 		Rick, Remember the Pee Wee .020 has a reed valve in it. It too could be stuck shut. If you
arn't comfortable disassembling the engine, continue to give it a good soaking in fuel.
A lot of times you can hear the reed valve "pop" on it's seat when you flip the engine
backwards, and forwards. This is a good sign that the reed is free. Good luck, Greg

It was sucking oil in through the intake screen at the appropriate times. I think the reed is fine, but the gaskets are shot, I need to find a rebuild kit on line somewhere. The small black O-ring and tank to crankcase gasket are shot. Any idea where I can find parts? Was going to check on Ebay.
