I'm picking one of these up next week new from my LHS for 300 out the door.  All I have is Traxxas stuff, but I want to build my own.  I have a Tekin RX8 with 2250kv in a E-Maxx that I will swap over.  From what I have read that will be too high a kv for the race track, is there a way with the Tekin hotwire to tone that motor or am I better off getting the 1900kv ?  Please advise on some other things below, I will playing around with it in the dirt and want to try my hand at racing also

Motor
Radio
Steering Servo
How many cell lipo and C rating
Gearing

What would be safe for some high speed runs and what would be best for track duty ?

Thanks

That motor is gonna be overkill, but I'm sure you can tame it down a bit. I wouldn't go out and get another motor. As far as what to get, it's a little tough to do without narrowing things down a bit. For example, what's your budget?

For a radio, I run a DX3R Pro. But the DX3R or DX3S or DX2S would work fine too.

For a steering servo, I've had good luck with Associated's XP 1015 servo.

For racing, you're only allowed to run 4 cell max. And 4S with that 2250 motor is plenty fast for speed runs. You wanna get something with at least 35C and 5000mah. That means the battery will supply about 175 amps, which should be sufficient for 1/8 buggy racing.

1900 is perfect for racing.

4s lipo, 35C or more.

Not really on much of a budget,  I was considering the AE 1015 servo and the dx3s, just need to read some reviews on them
