Hi Jeremy,
I often say how lucky I am. Not only in what I get to do as a job, but more importantly who I get to work with whilst doing it. All the best toys in the world are pretty useless in a cardboard box. Or even worse messed up by a bad build. I have had my fair share of Pooper builds and dealt with an equal share of crook builders over the years. I am please to say that right now I am working with a team of guys that never cease to amaze me with their building skills. Phil's Futura build is a wonderful example of that.
Anyway. Just a few hours before I head off to collect the Futurastein

Regards Al

Funny. I was just thinking on the way to work this morning how long it had been ( exactly) So not only is he a wonder craftsman, but one that actually meets a deadline ( No matter how ambitious it seemed at the time) Even more impressive is that I would say we added a week extra to this rebid waiting for the nose section to arrive
Thanks for the well wishes Rene. The same to you with your great looking 1.9!

Regards Al

Thank you all for your kind words, I hope this has helped to salvage some damaged models that have been hidden away because of the daunting unknown task to repair or rebuild them.

I am privalaged to be able to build for Ali and being able to work on the best quality models that are available to today. I hope to add some more builds and paint threads on RCU in the near future.

Thanks again.

Ali took the futura to classic jets today and after flying a number of other models decided to give the Futura it's second first flight, he flew her with the fuels tanks attached. She flew so well with no hiccups at all, after the flight I asked him of the verdict which was not 100%, he said that he would like to fly her again but this time without the external fuel tanks. This happened about 2 hours later and this time he had a very big smile on his face saying that its perfect.

My opinion is that she looks amazing in the air with the tanks fitted and I hope he displays the model with and without the tanks.

Anyway here is a shot of the completed model in the morning sunshine.

Happy! Does not even start to describe how I am feeling right now. I am sure I have said it many times before, but 2 mins after this model hit the floor some 4 weeks ago, I was looking at it and wondering weather to put it in the bin at the flying field or take it home and do it. It never crossed my mind that it was repairable, so when Phil told me to bring it round to him I was doubtful. However. It got the wreckage out of my site, which given how I was feeling about it at the time was most welcome. As I drove off from Phil's that evening i remember thinking to myself.. " Whats the worst that can happen?" I remember thinking that even if he could get it back together, that it would never look the same. Or that it would be obvious it had been repaired. Or even worse.... it would never fly anywhere near as good as any of the other Futura's I have had. Well I was wrong on all counts. It looks every bit as good as before my mess up. Everyone that came to look at it yesterday ( and there were many ) All took a close look at the nose, inside and out and all confirmed that it was near impossible to tell it had been repaired....... Best of all, it flew just like every other Futura I have flown to date...... Big smiles all round here.
Thankyou Phil for all your hard work and attention. To have done this repair at any speed would have been labour intensive, but to do it in the time you did is just exceptional. Now lets move onto the next project
Regards Al

Great to see pics of it in the air where it belongs. It looks really good with the tanks as well in my opinion

I wonder how many pairs of eyes were checking the aileron direction as you moved off

Hi Tim.
I agree, it does look great with the drop tanks on. Infact. I think it looks much better with the tanks on, but it flies better with them off
Even the flight line scrutiniser ( Keith ) came up as I was taxiing out and had one last check of those ailerons I think I flew most of the first circuit on rudder only just be be sure!
Regards Al

Yesssss! Absolutely Philip.
I would love it if you take a standard chinese out of the box jet, and give it a special weathering look.

Thanks
