Jim,

How bad is the centering problem with the S9070SB? I've just purchased some HV Servos for my first Futaba 18MZ project (a Naruke Aries, which I've just completed). Naruke's suggestion was to use the BLS 174HVs for Ailerons, BLS 175HV for rudder (though, IMHO, the BLS 171HV will be more than sufficient for the rudder as well) and S9070SBs for the elevators. I was planning on using a BLS 171HV for the throttle but decided to switch to an S9020SB for the throttle instead. If there's a centering problem with this servo, do you think its better to switch to the BLS 153 instead? I'm not sure whether the BLS153 can handle 7.4V though and all the other servos (BLS 174/175) required 7.4V.

Thanks,

Atul

I ran the BLS 153 servos at 7V all season without any problems, I think all the BLS servos are ok on the higher voltage.

Typically, when Futaba rate a servo for "6v" they're refering to using a 5-cell NiCad/NiMH pack (which will be over 7v full charged). Regulated 7v should be no problem.

Chad - which regulator are you using for 7v?

Jim - any plans for a JACCIO reg/switch with 7v capability?

Earl,

The Tech Aero ones support 6.9 which is wjere I ran mine. Ed has been working on some higher ones than work on 3S lipos that work really well too.

I've been running 6.3 off the balance connector, just to be over the 6.0 of the normal regulator on the receiver pack. Going to seven would be no problem. My new plane has all HV servos so I will go to 8 volts.

I can produce a regulator with a shifted voltage range that would include 7V.  Not a big deal.

Arch is referring to a new HD / HV version of the Tech-Aero FlexReg series of regulators that isn't up on the website yet, but which has jumper selectable voltage ranges, and within each selected range, the usual 32 point programmable voltages are available.  Bottom line, if someone wants a regulator that can support 7V, 8V, 8.4V etc,, it's available.

So all Futaba servos rated for 6 volts should be OK at 7 volts. How about the receivers which are also rated at 6 volts?

John

Hi, I've been running futaba bls seros at 7.2V for around 6 months via emcotech regulator. No issues and servos are extremely fast with good centering.

Regards
Clint

Hi Earl,

Custom digiswitch.

Can the Digiswitch set to 7V be ordered from PowerBox or have you done the adjustment yourself?

Regards,
Henning

I am sure it can, I had the dealer in Canada get it for me, they had a few made up for the local guys here, so I am sure the Powerbox guys will have no problem doing up some more.

Are you running your receiver on the same voltage?
What receiver are you using?
Thanks
John

Futaba rx's are fine at 8.4V.  Been doing it all summer.   Even more prevalent with the heli flyers.
