Scratch built flying wing. I fly it mostly at full throttle, but slow it down to land and it drops the left wing? Any ideas?
Thanks,

I would guess some initial wing misalignment that has controls trimmed to account for it at high speeds. When you slow down the flexing, etc. change and gives a slightly different overall trim effect.

How big is the wing - and where do you have the RX anntena routed ( hint, hint)? What about lateral balance? Does it balance on centerline? Gimme some answers and we'll go from there.

The wing is 10.75 x 48, and the antenna is totally hidden.

Muffler effects, spoiler action of servos sticking up, slip stream effects to name a few, all combined to name just one.

First, I would laterally balance the wing, maybe a couple pennies undar a wingtip will do it.

If that doesn't work, you might try some side thrust on the engine. Shim it to add a little left thrust & retrim.

How does it do when you pull into a combat turn?

Does it do the wing-drop when it's dead-stick as well?

Full throttle bank-n-yank turns it looses little speed, so it flies out level, lateral balance is good, I've only dead sticked once, and I don't remember it dropping the wing.

You brought up a good point that I thought too, side thrust. I wasn't quite sure which way to go with it though. If the L wing drops, give it thrust to the same side? If this is correct, that would be an easy way to remember.

Looking at the plane, trimmed for full throttle, it has more up elevon on the L side than the R side. Hand launches always need to be corrected initially to the right until it gets up on step. Does this sound like a side thrust issue? And L is definitely the way to go?

Yes, assume currently it is trimmed to the left because there's too much right thrust. That's what your description sounds like. THen when the right thrust goes away, you are left with too much left trim.

If you then add left thrust, your trims move back toward the right and when the thrust is reduced, hopefully the trims are close to center and you fly straight thru.

I'm assuming your problem is just a simple turn to the left a not like a snap roll to the left...

Now, ooutside with the binoculars to take a look at Mars...
