I thought Florida Jets was big...but Kentucky Jets earned my respect. It's like an outside Toledo show! No matter how busy Lewis Patton gets, he always has time to speak to you.
Thanks for a great weekend.

Lewis and your crew,
Thanks a bunch for all your hard work, for putting on one of the best jet meets going. I can really see over the years you listen to everyone's input and keep improving it every year, making it better and better.
I really liked how you and the flight line staff, handled the line for the startups, when it really got cranking. That really takes the stress out of it, when 12+ are ready to fly, and all the gate are full.
Kudo's also for the 2 great meals too...
John's auctioneering was downright entertaining

Keep up the great work, and go take a much needed vacation somewhere !!

Jerry and I had a great time, and thanks again !

The amount of time and effort to put on the Grandest Jet Event is something most of us don't usually think about when we are there experiencing it but after it is over and have time to reflect, we realize the work and sweat that goes into it. For that I say thanks to Lewis and his crew for another memorable Kentucky Jets.

JOK 2012

Well here we are, Larry and I on our two day drive back to Naples Florida. We ended  up leaving at 20:00 on Sunday evening after yet another great day at the Lebanon Sprinfield Airport, got to bed at at 02:00 after six hours driving and are well knackered. What a meeting, we arrived on the Thursday evening only to find three others had beaten us. Jim and Anne Brown offered us supper
( and beers ) and the the T28 was out for the fun to begin.

So to Friday, a relaxed day, very quiet and 5 flights each to get into the groove. With a few more people arriving the fun was starting. Lewis had done an amazing job with the preparations and the West Big Top was already up to keep us cool. For sure it was needed as the temperatures were past 110 degrees.

Chuck and Shelby Storrie arrived on the Friday evening and the "Club" was open. Chucks RV was re christened.  It was called a Tropi~Cal by the manufacturer, but Larry had had a new sign made that we brought with with us. Ali had taken a picture of the RV last year which was put on Facebook, Larry used that to make an amazing sign, using the same graphics. A presentation was made the sign velcroed to the RV and we now have the " World Famous Club Tropi~Cal". It for sure was the place be seen.

Saturday, that was another hot day, especially for Shelby, she was under test with her electric Switch plane, after three flights a decision was made to start turbine  training. The rest is history as she had 55 by the following Saturday evening. The purchase of her own Élan should see her with a waiver very soon.

Sunday  after the event was over worked out well as we had the field to ourselves and were able to concentrate on Shelby's take off and landings without getting involved with the guys enjoying themselves. By the end of the day take offs where in the bag and landings were coming together well. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us with this training at such a big jet meet, six in the air etc. there was not one one complaint.

For me this event was just the best, most days I started flying at 8 o'clock and on the final Saturday I started at 07:30 this allowed me to make 72 flights and burn about 180 litres/45 gallons on my own, with Larry and Shelby the total for our camp was 95 gallons.

Mention must go to everybody that came, there was a amazing amount of great flying, lots of interesting planes, on Saturday the group of similar planes sessions was really cool we had 4 F100, 3 F14, ?F4, and a really cool Hawk Fest with 6 or maybe 7 Hawks at the same time. Chuck Storie's glider during the National Anthem, with the turbine off making some nice aerobatics on the way down which landed just as Lewis finished playing his trumpet.

To all our old friends it was great to hang out and carry on where we left off, to our new friends, it was great to meet and we look forward to meeting up again soon, especially Rich and Jana Curry, thank you for taking Larry and and I in. Feeding us so well and preventing us from leaving all the fun at the airfield behind to go to the restaurant. Ali and Pablo, it was cool to hang out at the"Club" and listen to some hanger stories.

So to all the work that was done by Lewis and his team. As Marty (Afterburner) said when you are doing your own thing all the time it is very easys to forget what is going on in the background. It takes weeks of preparation to make it all come together. As the event gets bigger it takes more work, I hear that there will be three 200 x 40 Big Tops next year as Lewis ran out of tent space for participants. There will also be two more speakers and all will driven by wi-fi so that everybody can keep up with what is going on.

Marvin  the Deputy CD must have a special mention, all the way from Miami, with no personal plane, to take over and allow Lewis time to do other things. Then to all of the extra guys doing other jobs,  for example the rescue crew that sat in the burning hot sun waiting to fetch your plane should have have a small mishap.

Jim Tucker also needs a special mention for allowing us all to have so much fun on his airport. I spoke to him more than once and he really was very happy with what what going on. He said that the people of Lebanon and Springfield also appreciated all the business we brought to the area.

"The Worlds Grandest Jet Event" it surely is not to be missed. Vacation is already booked. Only 357 days to go until JOK 2013.

Lewis,
As usual, I had a great time at 2012 Jets over Kentucky and I am already looking forward to next year. The only problem I had at the meet was my sore knee which made it difficult to get around. Thanks to Lewis and Eric and everyone else who gave me rides in the Golf carts. Also, thanks to everyone who spotted for me over the week I was there. Saturday flying at 0700 was great, i was able to get in 5 flights by 0900 that day.
I had around 50 flights with my Velox and Tsunami with 22 gallons of fuel burned.

The trip home was an adventure as my transmission in my van went belly up about 40 mile out from the meet, outside of Lexington. My Van, trailer and Jets are still in Kentucky at the Towing and auto repair Facility, thankfully behind a fenced in area. I had to rent a car to get back to Pittsburgh for my Knee Doctor's appointment (and work). the repairs should be done by Friday and i will drive back down to bring everything home.
But I still had a good time!!

Ron

Lewis,
The Electrodynamics team had a blast at JOK this year. We flew the most flights ever for us at a single event and had a great time doing it!

It was awesome meeting old friends and making some new ones as well.

Marvin,
You and your team were off the hook, great job managing the flight line and putting up with me

We will definitely be back next year in the same spot!

Thanks for a great week!

As a newbie to the jet world I was quite impressed. Didn't bring the plane, just the camera for a couple of days. I'll be back next year with the planes in tow.

Wow Lewis, what an awesome event! Thanks so much for all the hard work that you, Marvin, and the entire crew did so that we could all have such a great time.

It was wonderful to see the East Coast Jet Set again, as well as folks from around the world. This is a fantastic hobby and Nancy and I had a blast hanging out with all y'all especially Jim/Ann, Dan/Colleen, Kilroy/Qwen, Paul/Patty, Jonathon/Joanna (we look forward to seeing you again at Speedworld with Noel), Dan, Smitty, Lucky “Electro” Bob, the JWM crew, B1-Bob, Lukey and many more fine folks. Thanks Dave for bringing the Grey Gripen and all my stuff. Congrats to Jake for his future young superstar award.

We saw some pretty amazing planes and some fantastic pilots. The four ship F-100 flight (Dan Avilla, Phil Nuzo, Jack Diaz, and Greg Wright) was incredible especially the triple flyby; it was a sight to behold!!! I hope that somebody will post a photo. The action was intense during the opening ceremonies with 11 sport jets in the air at once (what a rush to be in the middle of that).

The marg party was better than ever with Ron Ballard and the Wren crew bringing fajitas. Many thanks to Rich and Jack for hosting the event at Apollo 13. Thank you Keith and family for the loan of the BBQ as well as for the incredible dinner on Friday night.

A big thank you to Rei, Jack, Rod, and Pablo for your help with big Gripen. It will be quite the thrill to fly it at Top Gun 2013.

And a special thank you to my good friends Andy/Johnnie/Jacy, Goose, and Boli. It was fantastic to spend the week with you guys. Thanks for everything!

Great event, great flying, great friends!!!! Awesome!!!!

From Nancy: I'd like to give a shout out to Lewis and everyone at Jets Over Kentucky!! What an amazing group of people and, as a new-comer, I just want to thank each and every one of you who made me feel so welcome! Thanks to the ladies for their cordial welcome also and for my lovely Red Solo Wine glasses!! I am looking forward to meeting "y'all" again at future events! Mostly, thanks to Jim for a wonderful week and an up-close peek into your passion of jets.

Regards,

Jim & Nancy
