Hello rc people

I started a lil project with my tb2

It's a rollcage made from seamless high pressure hydraulic pipe..
Made to fit inside a fiberglass beetle body from nutechracing.nl
And on the zmc dual steering servo chassis.

It is not finished yet, there are no mounting points, no side bar/step thing,
No paint, no final fitting and there are some more bracing to to in the back

Here's a pic

Looks great! You might want to consider protecting the top of the front shock tower with something, it looks a little exposed, and is a weak point on the car as stock.

That shock tower is actually already broken, but there are a 7mm thick one almost done just sitting on my work bench

And if you look at the bar going down the middle there, you might notice its a little low..
the plan was to make it a little longer with more bend so it will sit a tad higer.

That should help some, and I will make a front and rear bumper, that would also help a little..

This is what I was thinking, only it looks good low as it is now. I was thinking maybe you could just weld a small semi-circle like a hood bulge.

Actually thats not a bad idea. I was thinking, I have to cut holes in the hood of the beetle body for the tower to stick out,
so some sort of brace will look good

I did not get to drag myself over to the workshop today. So no new progress or pics today:/
Will try and get something done tomorrow.. need mounting points first, and I may have to rework some of the lower back to make it sit lower and give room for exhaust..

I was also thinking it would be Nice with functional doors, so I don't need to remove body from cage to re fuel.
Steel cage will make fiberglass body stiff enough anyway I think...

I also have on order some alu case for 5755 servo..
Does anyone know anything about that?
Quality, pros, cons and such.

I could not find much info on it..

Anyway I think they will look good

I probably will put alu panels on it at some point.. I usually do that to my rc cars, I like alu panels.. as you can see here

But back on topic

The body I have for it is not lexan.. its fibreglass.
Here is pic of the cage in the body

And here is a pic of the cage through the front window. It will sit a tad higer tho.. The cage will be painted red to match red engine accessories

Hey Lars heia norge

And thank you all for positive comments

I was at the workshop today, and made brackets at the front and prototype brackets at the back..

Modified a little on the bottom rear end of the cage to make more room for exhaust,
Don't know if I like how it turned out.. will have another look at it tomorrow..

I did forget to take pictures today, but I may remember it tomorrow

Here is another pic of earlier cage to compensate

This is the same car with my first attempt at a cage. I welded it together with a stick welder thing.. I think there are maybe one half decent weld on it, but I can stand on it

BTW My brother did a "stand on it" test on the beetle cage today. He weighs in at 100kg and the cage didn't even flinch a little. He could probably jump on it

That really is just amazing, that just needs a wing mount & wing on the back and it would in my eyes be perfection!

Please get back to me on making me one of these.

Craig
