I recently needed an inexpensive 40 sized kit for a project. I bought the Uproar 40 because I wanted a 3-D fun fly, and because it looks cool and especially because it was only 39.99!!

First off, if you are looking for a hovering 3-D monster, this is NOT your airplane, I have a Modeltech Magic and it fills this bill much better. However, if you are looking for a great flying sport airplane that is easy to build ( for conventional construction that is) this is your baby!!! it flys great, maneuvers great, and best of all is a pure joy to land. It is a One Piece airplane meaning the wing is glued permanently to the fuselage, but, it is not a large airplane so it transports easily. I used an older, but very fresh, OS Max 40 FSR on this Airplane and it performs just right.

All in All, I recommend this airplane to anyone, but was a bit disappointed in that it was touted as a funfly/3-D type airplane. I think if you increase the Rudder and Elevator size it might come close. Good Flying Airplane lotsa fun and looks cool.

I also have an up roar if you make an extra compartment just back of the servo compartment and put the battery their you can balance it with a OS 46FX with an 11x7 mine hovers great and has good vertical but falls a little on knife edge. It is one of my favorites to fly.

I had one with a 91 saito and put the servos in the tail. also a taller landing gear for prop clearance. It would float like a feather in the brease. I had to put some thin plywood (thinest you can find) on both sides of the fuse to the trailing edge of the wing. This kept that big four stoker form shaking the plane apart. The rudder is also to small, so I put a counter balance on top and that help a litte more. As far as knife edge flight this thang ai'nt got no side profile so forget it!
This is a fun-fly plane not a 3D er. I've won several f/f with it.

I would consider these planes much more of a sport fun fly for hot dogging then the new breed of 3d Funflying planes out there now.

I would have to agree with everyone. I recently completed one of these earlier this year and so far its been a blast. Its even better for the price because i don't have a job yet. But i also agree its no 3d'er but still beats farting around the house on a Saterday!

Ill incluse this picture

About to finish mine. A few of us ordered some from Tower a few months ago. Will also be using a OS 40 FSR, probably with an 11x4 prop. A very basic plane thats extremely easy to build. I am confident mine will hover provided I dont have to add too much tail weight. Mounting the battery in the rear of the plane will probably help!

Hey Spoiler I had an OS 40 FSR on mine at first, I love these engines, then went to a 45 FSR and it still wont hover! I am now going to a new GMS 47 with hopes it will hover now. I really like this airplane, it ia a wonderful sport plane and I will build more someday but 3-D it is not. Still glad I bulit it...

I have built a few of these kits.....they are tough to hover in my opinion. I increased both the elevator and rudder size on the latest one and run a piped OS .46 SF with a 12.25 x 3.75 prop. I also put the elevator servo in the tail. It has tons of power, but the rudder still is a little too soft to recover from all but the most minor deviations when in hover.

Still, what an awesome airplane and a ton of BANG for the buck!

Mine is finished and has flown twice. What a fun plane. It can be flown at walking pace making landings a breeze. My test flights were done in a 40 km/h gale but the plane handled it quite well. Roll rate on high settings was about 3 per second. Cant wait to get airborne on a calmer day and see if she ill hover...

I would have to also agree with everyone but one aspect that is perfect for this plane is float flying. With 2 styrofoam floats this is a perfect plane. Takes off and lands great on the water. Hope I sparked some interest if you are bored with your uproar.

I have built enough of the Up-Roars that I made patterns of every part and just scratch them out. 3-D plane it is not but for fun flys it can't be beat. I broke in an MDS 58 on one and it would sort of hover but even with all that horse power it wouldn't hold it very long and knife edges are very short lived but fun to try. In the wind you can get them to even float backwards and spot landing is A snap. JMO

Does anyone have an extra set of plans for the Tower Hobbies Uproar 40? I perfer to scratch build planes rather than build from premade kits. If someone has an extra set of plans they would be willing to part with I would be happy to pay the postage to ship them. You can contact me at: MUISER@METROCAST.NET
Thanks
Ron
