Status: offline 		You could have a GWS slow stick in the air for about that. Very easy flyer, but don't try it in the wind!

Status: offline 		Why for a hundred bucks? is that all you can spend...or do you see it as all that you're willing to risk?
If that is all you have ok......but if that is all your willing to risk I suggest you step back a minute and regroup......The very best way, cheapest and quickest to learn to fly is with an instructor using a buddy box......It's almost assured to go home with an intact airplane time after time.....
Also I suggest you get something that is 4 channels...which are throttle, ailerons, rudder, and elevator.....these are the basic controls of an airplane....if you ever see yourself flying with 4 channels then learn that way from the start and you won't have to unlearn and re learn.....
So my last suggestion is to go out to your local club and talk with the people there about what they think....Good Luck and welcome to the addiction

Status: offline 		RC is not necessarily for rich guys, but it does require some funding as there are maintenance costs even after you have your equipment. But there is a class of RC planes that has come out in the last few years that bridges the gap between toy grade and hobby grade. They all but fly themselves with the most minimal of pilot input and are so slow and lightly loaded that it's hard to damage them in a bad landing as long as you don't lawn dart them. The most prominent have been listed above with the Super Cub by far the most popular. For guys who just want the entertainment of seeing something fly that they are in control of, they are good enough as long as the wind is cooperative. But if the OP is planning to do all kinds of aerobatics in all kinds of wind and fly high performance planes, then he'll need to start with something better and get ready to spend a lot more than $100 initially.

These are good options for $100 approx. Check with a local club. Usually someone has an old trainer they will sell you on the cheap. In fact, ask if an instructor will bring you up on a buddy box with the club trainer a couple times and see if you like it.

By the looks of the post you are new to the Hobby, and want to get into flying?

1. Transmitter cost from $59.99 a DX5E Spectrum- to higher end models, that have 10 or more memories for planes and heli's.

2. ARF or RTF, RXR, there are kits with included transmitters, as well just planes?

3. plane parts, to scratch builds.

I started out new, but new to planes, and gone the route of a Hobbyzone Champ. Comes as a kit, a self teaching plane, you get a Tx, battery, plane and carger, and carrying case, work bench.

In time this will get you through the basics, and advance you into the hobby fast.

If you decide $79-89 is the budget you do fine,but if you are leaving to spend some more, the Hobbyzone Super Cub will be the better choice, if hte plane feels to big, then step down to the MSC (mini Super cub), or Electrifly flylite. You want DSM2 not Fm As the MSC as a metal ant I preferre DSM2

Remember the Hobbyzone champ, and most others old their value.

You will crash, and all you need is gorilla glue white, or brown, and some time. foam is the easiest plane to repair.

The Tx will be a item that will be wit you for the longest, and most valuable tool.

If you have skills you may find a site, order the plane parts and build.

For the champ example:

Fuselage with electronics 45.00
wing 10.00
tail kit 7.00
propeller, wheels, batt a few dollars.

Makes sense today to get the kit for $80.00

You ave options tt are endless, keep us posted. I find the camp to be te most relaxing plane around, fits in the car anywhere I go.

Status: offline 		Check out a lot of suppliers, DON'T believe the ones that show a jet, or a low-wing airplane, and call it a trainer! High-Wing airplanes, while a little low on the "cool-looking-factor" are the best to learn on. A GWS Slo-Stik is probably the cheapest airplane to start with, easy to build, easy to fly.
 Hobbyking sells a good 6channel radio forabout 33.00 from their usa warehouse, hobbypartz sells the same radio for 32 or 33 bucks.
these 2 suppliers have matched brushless setups that won't break the bank. Hope this helps.

Status: offline 		Dont want to hi-jack the thread but I was looking at the Hobby Zone Champ and noticed it comes with a 1S 3.7V 150mAh Li-Po battery.

If you flew the plane fairly hard?
Casual slow park flying?

Are there any better batteries one could get?

For someone who doesn't want to hijack the thread, you did a good job of exactly that. To answer your question though, the batteries it comes with are the right ones for it. Flying in anything but calm conditions with something that small is a hairy proposition.

Status: offline 		Wouldnt really say I totally did becuase if the OP is also interested in the Champ then Im guessing they will also need/want some extra batteries for extra flying fun and it would be good info for them if there is a better battery out there.
