We are having the second Pattern Clinic and Contest on March 31st. This is a one day contest for reserved to Sportsman and Intermediate classes. For Sportsman class you can use ANY AMA legal airplane.
The idea is to help newcomers to pattern to get rid of the jitters on a first contest. We are having a clinic, starting at 9:00AM, conducted by 2 top FAI flyers. The workshop will help clarify presentation of flights, size of maneuvers, use of the flying box, etc., etc.
We will have a questions and anwsers session, lunch at noon (included in the registration price) and will fly 2 or 3 rounds of each class which will be judged.
Trophies to 3rd. place.
Check the GAMA website (www.gamarc.org) for a flyer with lodging and field location information. The field will be open for practice flying Friday all day and if you want to stay Sunday you will be able to do so.
Camping at the field is permitted, but no hook ups or power are available.
Come you'll and have fun!!!!
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions: Rene Grebe (512)330-4485 (H) or (626)991-0842 (C) or "renegrebe39@gmail.com"

I am from the Hill Country Aeromodelers in south Austin.  I plan on attending.

Not sure what I will fly but it won't be a full size pattern aircraft.  I purchased a 3DHS Aspera at the recent swap meet in Georgetown to practice with.

That's good to hear Rene. Do you know who else is attending? My father will fly the intermediate and I may give it a try to the sportsman.

Happy Landings
Guillermo

My plans are to attend the event and assist Rene.

I hope many will attend and enjoy the event, the help, and the pleasure of sharing precision aerobatics with those who enjoy it as well.

Chuck

Hi Guillermo, Just like last year we are having Brett Wickizer (confirmed) and Paul Villarrubia (unconfirmed) for the clinic and a few active pattern flyers, like Chuck Hochhalter (just confirmed, Thanks Chuck) to give a hand in coaching the participants.
Last year we had 16 entrants of which 11 flew Sportsman, 4 in Intermediate and 1 participated only in the clinic.
This year I have already few inquires from out of towners and got the feeling that we may have closer to 20 contestants.
Just put my request for "nice weather", lets hope that HE listened.

We had a well attended Clinic at Georgetown. There were 14 participants, 3 did not fly, 5 flew Sportsman and 6 did fly Intermediate.
Brett Wickizer and Chuck Hochhalter conducted the clinic and answered all the questions. Leslie Hochhalter did all the tabulation. After lunch we flew 3 rounds of each class. In Sporstman were: Luis Meza, Alan Hurd, Terry McMahan, Jim Houck and Randy Kendzior (Jim and Randy were flying the sequence for the first time at the contest)
In Intermediate they finished: Qifen Chen, Michael McGraw, Luis Meza, Tom Hickman, Robert Petrinec and Patrick Cole.
We had flyers from Houston, Spring, Bryan and from College Station Mr. Scott McHarg, Secretary of NSRCA.
Thanks to all that participated and helped.
Next year event will be on the first weekend of April.

I believe Bill Meza won Sportsman.  His dad, Luis,  was 3rd in Intermediate.  They were both extremely helpful to me. This was  my first contest and the first time I had ever attempted to fly the full sequence.  Great fun.  I hope to do it again in May at Katy.

Perhaps my OS 55AX powered Kaos is in need of an upgrade.

Thanks Rene, Thanks Brett, Thanks Chuck and Leslie, all of you did a great job. Also thanks to all the fine guys at GAMARC.
I think is nothing like to fly in the front of judges who let us know how improve the way we are flying the sequences.
