Most of my scale interest slants towards the Great War Era - here are just a few of those Early Warbirds in attendance:

These photos, and a few more, up on my photobucket account, at:

Lee,
thanks for posting the pictures.
===========

Sept 13-15, Fall Classic flyin at LMACKY at Lexington, Kentucky.
115 miles.

Perfect weather (70's-80's) for a great event. A 800' paved and grass runway with electrical hookups for RV's (of which there were several). They had hot breakfast, lunch and an excellent dinner, Friday night. The weather was so nice, I got there on Wednesday and didn't leave until Sunday afternoon.

Paul and I got some formation flying in with our SBD's plus Terry, Doug, Paul and I got several formation flying with the heavy metal. It's fun doing rolls, loops, low passes and 360's in groups of two: it's more exciting doing them with three or more!
Went through 4 gallons of fuel (11 flights on Friday).

Video of Terry's jet/prop powered large Waco, which, I believe, is the only such one in the country:

pictures:
Paul's Ziroli stuka with siren/bomb drop.
Curtis and Gayle.

Sam, what can you tell me about the P-39 in the pictures earlier in the post. Is that a kit or scratch built model. Looks very well done, Keith

Keith,
That was PJ's and I think it's the ESM ARF (80"). I'm guessing that it's not very aerobatic (military wise) as I was flying formation with PJ and he didn't want to do anything but low passes and he's an excellent pilot.

Sept 30, super scale sunday at WORKS at Carlisle, Ohio.
20 miles.

As usual, some of the best flying weather is in the Fall. Low 70's, lite winds and not a cloud in the sky.
I counted 56 planes (counting the two ulta-lites and not counting those in the trailers) at the field.
The entire pit area was full, as well as the parking lot.
Plenty of good food plus four full size planes gave us a nice show for about 15 minutes.

A private full size grass runway.
A local boy scout troupe showed up and had a good time, including eating!
Dennis getting ready to fly.

Mac's rally of the Eagles.

I've got one day to pack up and get ready to head south.
Tomorrow, I head down to Mac Hodges Rally of the Giants, just down I-75...630 miles! Getting there early to maximize my flying time when I'm traveling that far!

Oct 4-6, Rally of the Eagles at Mac Hodges field in Anderson, Georgia.
640 miles.

Got there on Tuesday after a 12.5 hour trip.

A long ways to travel but worth it. Mac's field is just about perfect: 300' wide, 1/3 mile long (so he can land his full size cub) with golf, putting green type grass, large hanger type buildings to secure our planes over night and a hobby shop on premise that has just about anything you need for a plane in need of repair! The pit area also has a large cover (metal building without walls) to protect us from the sun and any inclement weather. There's also a good dozen RV hook up posts.

The weather was perfect: lows in the 60's and mid 80's during the day, with light winds for all the days and no rain. Barbecue ribs were served for lunch and the local town is only 4 miles down the road for evening chow.

I went through about 4 gallons of gas and got 5 of 6 planes in the air, that I brought (one had battery issues).

I had a great time seeing all my friends 'down south' that I only see twice a year. My buddy Scott came up from Florida and we had a great time. Merlyn set up 'shop' right next to me and all three of us spotted for each other and, of course, critiqued each others flying and 'ribbed' each other all week end.

To top the week end off, Mac gave me a ride in his cub. That was a real treat, flying that low over the country side.

I left Sunday morning in nice warm weather and arrived Sunday evening in 53 degree weather in Ohio. Now, I wish I would have stayed at Mac's on Sunday and got another day of flying in!

pictures:
Pedro with his 110" blown up Ziroli F4U. He did a superb job of detailing it, using real screws and some light weathering. A DLE 222 so plenty of power.
Scott spotting for Merlyn.
Merlyn spotting for Doc's outstanding 120" F6F. Another true artist at building planes.
Pilots meeting lead by Jim and RB.
Doc next to his Hellcat.

Pedro and his SBD.
Dino and Merlyn.
Mac's hobby shop.
The pit area.
The 'hanger' buildings to store planes in the evening.
Scott with his nicely detailed 110" F4F wildcat. He does a superb job flying it and the Moki 250 sounds great.
My F4U got three flights: After landing, the 'crowd' liked the folding wing routine.
(For details of the flights, see post #1273 at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8096976/mpage_51/tm.htm )
My Ziroli's P-47, SBD and C-45.
Almost lost the P-47: A servo shorted out, it was draining the batteries and making all the other servos work in slow motion. Lucky to get her back down: double batteries definitely helped. I've never had a servo short out and didn't know it affects all the other servos. With only about 315 flights, I didn't want to lose her! (makes you think twice about ever using servos out of a crashed airplane!)
