Anyone using a Jet 120 in this jet. If so did you have to modify the rear two bulkheads to accept the thrust pipe please?

a 120 would be far to much for this model, spoken to tony and his is over powered with an 80.i intend to fit a P60 in mine, this type of aircraft flys on the wing not the power.thats the beuty of it.with a 120 its going to come out heavy and not fly so well..

Sonnich, what turbine are you thinking to install?
After some research I am considering Wren75 Jubilee. It is offered at 1199 pounds with the standard package, which looks competitive, and seems to be good quality.
Anybody has some previous experience with Wren Turbines? Are they reliable?
Also, what about the landing gear? Does anybody have any experience with the one offered by Tony Nijhuis? It is quite a lot of money to be honest...
Thanks!

I have a merlin 100 from jets munt, that could be used one day when it is finished

Wren turbines are great.
But so are Gaspars turbines from Jets munt.

Otherwise the the new merlin 80VT is a very nice engine with many of the components inside the front cover to make the install easier :
http://www.jets-munt.com/pb/VT80/VT80.html

Since you live in spain, you could probably get a good deal with Gaspar too
and easier to send it to service when the time comes.

Landing gear....
Yea, i think it is too expensice too.
Im going to get some parts from behotec for mine i think........still looking for the most suitable for the best price and quality....

Georch.
I can only speak for Wren, I heve been flying a Wren 54 mk3 for about 6 years and despite my best efforts to kill it (been bounced a few times) it just keeps on going, any porblems I have had ALL traced back to myself or dud battery ect.

I was about to purchase a Jets Munt VT80, but a deal I could not refuse came along for a KingTech K80, so I went for that instead, I only found out about the Jubilee deal after purchase of the K80 or I would have had the Wren.

As it appears this model turns out to be tail heavy the weight of the engine would be a major consideration.

Sonnich.
I have read on the LMA thread that 2lb (nearly 1kg) of lead was required in the nose to ballance the model, as you have a model in front of you can I ask the following.

In the interest of getting as much weight as far forward as possible, at the initial build stage do you think the engine could be mounted further forward?

Would there be room to use saddle fuel tanks (around the engine instead of in front, like some of the scale jobs) or could room be made within the stub wings (between UC mount rib and fuselage) for tanks to feed into smaller (stubby) tank within the fuselage allowing room for the engine to move forward.

John.

Sure, you could move the turbine much further forward, and there is quite a lot of space if you make some custom saddle tanks.

But.....The middle section of the plane is closed off.......something has to hold the fusealge together :-)
So you will be working like a ginocologist to get everything in there
But nothing is impossible.

The link to the other thread shows the rudder servos moved up forward, and im pretty sure this alone will take heaps of lead out of the nose by itself.

But do you want the plane to fly like a foamy ?
I dont think the extra weight of the ballast is going to have a huge negative effect anyway.
It will ofcourse limit your vertical

you want to fly it scale.......check out how little power is on the real thing.
He has to realy work a bit it to get it off the ground wih th e low static thrust

Thanks for the info guys! really useful.
I have been checking the Jet Munt, they are actually manufactured just 100miles from where I live. I was plannig to go up there one afternoon and get a feel of the turbine. Nevertheless price wise they are very close. The Wren 75 Jubilee is at 1199GBP plus shipping. The VT80 is at 1640Eur. Not a big difference so the reliability and ease of use will be my priority being this my first jet.
One more question if you could help me. What about the wheel brakes, are they estrictly required? My field is paved so I would be concerned about landing without wheel brakes. Anybody knows about a cheaper alternative to the landing gear offered by Tony?
I do not have the means or the experience to manufacture a retractable landing gear myself as in the other thread...
Again many thanks for your help!
Rgds

Jorge
p.s. by the way, my vampire wood pack and plans just arrive today! I will post some pics this week!

I bought a JetMunt G90 second hand witch was not in good condition, I sent it back to Gasper and he repaired it free of charge as it was not that old, exceptional service arrived back to me within a week to the UK, the newer 80 has most of the equipment inside the turbine casing witch makes for a very easy install can't praise them enough, I have other turbines as well so am comparing it to others, if I was in the market for a 80 size turbine it would most definitely be a JetsMunt.

Hi Guys!

Here are the promised pics. The kit looks great, very good quality of the wood and the drawings are excellent. Three separate sheets. Tha laser cut of the balsa is very precise, the same for the ply.
The ABS nose and the canopy also arrived safely. What a canopy! I can almost put my head inside! :-)
Just started the build today. Will keep posting!

These are the ones Tony writes about in his manual:
http://www.falcon-aviation.co.uk/www.falcon-aviation.co.uk/info.php?p=17

I tried to order them, but I got a very late reply about a month later after I ordered........maybe you could get lucky :-)

They are much cheaper, but they are deffinatly not as strong as the german strongal ones.
But they probably still are up to the job anyway
