Status: offline 		The shots showing the fuse formers (without the top sheeting in place) look quite a bit differnt than the TF kit I have been building. Is that a different edition?

Status: offline 		I just finished building the bubble top version from the TF GE kit. Took over a year as I did many modifications. Used electric retracts and installed them at an angle back to be more scale like, instead of parallel to the leading edge of the wing. I could fit the more scale-like 4 inch Robart diamond tread wheels, but alas, no room to angle the wheels so that they track straight. The wheel is so thick that when extended, the they have too much toe-in. The right amount of toe-in causes them to not fully retract into the wing. So I switched to 3-1/2 inch, skinnier wheels. Full wheel doors, including the inner doors, and operating doors on the retractable tail wheel as well. Fiberglassed with 0.5 ounce cloth and Minwax Polycrylic. Automotive type lacquer primer. Warbird colors paints. I didn't want to invest in decent paint spray equipment, so I brushed it on and have been very pleased with how it looks. No brush marks. Very nice. Recommend you paint all of the markings, and avoid using any decals. They are very thick. I painted on the stars and bars. Used some of the tiny enamel Testor's bottles to paint the dummy radial engine and the cockpit kit details. Used Modern Masters metallic silver for the natural metal finish where needed. Couple of coats of Top Flite Lustrekote over the whole thing. All up weight is 10 pounds, 6 ounces. Magnum .91 4 cycle nitro engine.

My build is finished, but I'm still checking it out fully. Hope to do some high speed taxiing very soon.

Well, Hello to all. Yea I just started this build and it is comming along fine. I some times find myself not looking at the booklet and doing a plan build....sooooo I have to back up. I put my air tank in the space in back of the cockpit...dead space. I put in the cockpit kit, that way I will work around it as to servos and items. It is bad doing everything then having to cut away things just to get the cockpit in. I will be running a 20cc. Made a new hatch for my air/off-on switch. the one in the pic was right where the canopy will sit. will post more pic's soon.

I am currently building one. I am now nearing the end of the build. It took me just over a year to get to get to this point. I have just started paint weathering and scale details.
Mine is covered in solartex fabric to keep the weight down and will be powered by an os 1.20 surpass.

 Yea, I had this unit laying around in my war room for a year or so and then.....a friend asked me when was I planning to get on it. so....I get started. I have three other
units in line T-28, L-19, and an aero works P-51B (Tuskegee)1/5 scale.
Your bird is looking great. I will be putting a 20cc in mine and it will be glassed. What retracts are you using? I have CJM. As you can se I placed the air up top.

Status: offline 		I forgot to say.. in the dash I put the light to my kill switch. In my P-40 I put a light in the dash and that looks cool for my onboard starter. My son did send me some light for the wings and main light.

Status: offline 		Thanks Tuskegee. I am using eflite electric retracts. The cjm's are sweet!
I like your idea of putting the light in the dash that should look neat, I put my volt meter on the dash of my corsair, it looked cool,  you can see the lights on a low pass!
I was going to do a light kit but I couldn't find one I liked and then the build got too far to add them.

I heard these aircraft balance tail heavy and need quite a bit of nose weight. Have you or anyone heard anything about that?

Status: offline 		 Essar,  I have been told that by friends that run a glow system.even with all rec, servos, batts moved forward. I try not to cut the fuse or cowl if I don't have to. that keeps it clean and scale. As to paint, I like Klass Kote.

charlesp, The 20cc should work well as to the fit. What muffler will you be using?
Red, I had to put on my glasses to see your 47.....When it comes back the way it went up...its all good.
