Hi edible,

Phil is right - the only reason the Cougar looks so clean is its fairly new. This is my second after the last one was fatally wounded! Its only had 15 flights tops but wet wipes or Mr Muscle is your best bet for cleaning.

Basically when I get back from flying I clean the plane, recharge the batteries so I can fly whenever I like and put after-run in the engine after burning of the last of the fuel at the field so theres no nitro left in the cylinder. That way the model is always clean and ready to go whenever. Sounds obvious but its taken me 2 years to get in to the habit of doing it!

its a habit i dont have... i store my planes nose down and quite often i find them leaking fuel lol the Capiches prop is covered in oil right now..
i've never liked that pinch the fuel line thing, purposely running engines lean leaving no oil inside.
Andy, charging up the batts when you get home might not be the best option... they loose charge over time, something like 10% in the first week, 1% every week after that, the pheonix with it 1400 hydride!!! pack was peaked one week, totaly flat the next.. not sure how but good thing i peak my cells before i go out.

about to go down town to see if i can sort the graphics, then back home and out in this sun to rebuild the flight box, and test the Westy.

don't ya just love Indian Summers

and i will do so
Hydrides do indeed have a bit more of a drop off, however, a 1400 mah pack will not loose 1275 Mah in one week. i must check it in a min see how it is.. see if its still loosing..
they also take a few charges before they come good and the voltage drop is diffrent... my old digital cam would go "flat" right away with hydrides hot off the charger. for these two reasons i didn't get a hydride tranny pack this weekend coz the ff8's low batt alarm can be confused the same way the camera is by the "low voltage"

ps added benifit of the baby wipes... you don't need a spray bottle AND rag, becides, the rag always gets mucky unless you use kitchen roll.. my container sits right next to the prop box, old ones make good prop boxes

West diagnosis... scores in the back of the liner and piston.. cause looks to be the gudeon pin wanted to explore the world outside and jumped to late to avoid the top of the transfer port. Knew it couldn't have over heated in such a short time, done that for longer before! Just sent it back, should have a newun in time for St Ozzle. hope to bring Cougar, Pheonix, Capiche, Outlaw.. one of those must be right for the events

thats if the paint on my flight box dires by then

Phil you're quite right, but what I didn't say is that before I fly I always trickle charge them to top them up, time depending on the last charge they had. Up to a week I'll trickle em for a few hours, if its been more than a week I'll do it overnight. I recycle them every coupla months too and I use a checker at the field. Generally this seems to work for me well as I use NiCds not NiMh. And I always take a spare charged rx battery with me so I can fly if the other one packs up.

Shame I can't fly as well as I am organised! And I did say your West didn't sound right, why would the pin try to jump out the transfer port? Did Weston give you an explanation? Good job you were using Prosynth or the warranty would be up the spout too.......

I rang Choppy to see if it was worth sending back, or if he'd pick me up the internal bits and save hassle, i told him what happened and he agreed it CAN'T die that quick and cook, but when i meantioned two little grooves on the rear transfer port he said AH!
that can happen sometimes, the clip that holds the pin simply sits in a grove, sometimes it jumps out. the bad sound was it coming loose and teasing the port, then it came right out and seazed the engine.. i hope hes right and the old man agrees, coz it's only a month and a bit old and i dun really wanna buy new internals £££

sounds like a great routine you've got, i have almost 0 organisation.. i did the draw of my flight box, works great, now im tyding up the whole flight box.. whether i get all organised is a diffrent matter... i kinda like my slightly madcap style

i thought your flying was fine.. not flown as much as you'd like so felt a bit rusty, and you could have thrown the Capiche about if you had wanted ( even Dean was nice to it! ) but you flew it well. be cool to meet up again, are we all going up Woodsprings next year? stay over the weekend Andy and we can all fly together in the evenings.. last one to Wall his Cougar at full throttles a wimp

By the sounds of things you should get a new set of internals - hope its not a recurring theme with the Wests as my Capiche is getting one!

Woodsprings sounds cool for next year , will have had the C50 for ages by then and hopefully the C140ex too! By Xmas I should have enough money to throw at it! Just not with a YS tho have to be a moki 135.

Don't worry about the madcap style - I have that approach to most things, as my heads always thinking about other things than what its supposed to be on!

By the way sent an email to your club sec about the day on Sunday just p[assing my thanks to Steve and Rob (?) for being so sporting and explaining why I left early. Really enjoyed the day too!

thatll be an internal circlip then. its not uncommn for them to vibrate out of position and poke an end in a port, when they do its bad news

got me Westy back, big thumbs up for Weston service, had the same carb as before so i made it 3 clicks richer, 5 prime flicks. stuck on the glow clip, wack the prop BRUMMMMM

Dean... i've been driving the road in my head... so where do i turn off or do you wanna meet up at Spar shop at X? time.

head out of St Austell turn off right towards the old hospital, across a crossroads just after the turn and then round a left bend, under a bridge and spars on the left on a right hand bend, left bend again and then Imerys quary is on the right.. a bit further theres a turn for Bungullow, then a right hand side a bike shop and a steep slag heap ( thats a waste china heap for those about to report me ) left hand bend with a right hand turn.. over a small bridge i think.. and right hand bend, head down hill, back up and into a village i think.. other side of the village you go downhill , climb back up and get to a cross roads, if you go right you go past the large hills and onto the A30.

thats the road i know... wheres the turn off?

Cartman have you rallied the troops yet?

with that killer bee he has little choice, when he flew the Capiche i was really impressed, he uses more sky than me. he managed to win the Aeros with that patternship he has.

i played with a few things for a front page, but i'm not happy yet..

as for the weekend, i have my fave 4 ready to go
