Good news on the new schemes but, given that there were so many different colourful and visually appealing Squadron markings applied to the basic RAF camo scheme, there must be mileage in producing a basic camo version without markings other than common stencilling, allowing the owner the freedom to apply his/her favourite markings. There were also a load of other colour schemes applied to Hunters throughout the world...so there's also got to be mileage in supplying a plain white one (or whatever colour the base model comes out of the mould in).

Whatever, it's a nice model and looks like it flies very well...if I never had an A-7, JP and Swallow awaiting attention, I'd have one...as long as it never came with markings on!

Cheers,

Dick

Aahhh poor Jason - haven't you got any more current put downs? My new one loves the gyro now it's switched the right way round

I'm actually sorta tempted by the ETPS scheme for my next one.

Dick you can never please em all and theres only so many on each shipment, although one of my customers pre-ordered one in plain camo which has just come in on this delivery. He is going to have it done in the Royal Jordanian Air Force markings. Get that building back log cleared now you have all that time on your hands !

Hi Colin,

Yes, that's my point...don't try and please them all (coz u never will) just help them please themselves

Time...oh yes, I remember that...that's what one who goes to work finds plenty of to go and play toys with! Must get a job...!

Cheers mate,

Dick

Actually thinking about it Dick I reckon you are absolutely right on your first comment. I'm going to see if a batch can be done in plain camo. Then we can get superstar Ralle from Tailor Made decals to have available some offerings for the markings and Bobs your Uncle. as you say that will give a whole lot more choice for no extra effort / cost on the airframe.

Re the new colours. I don't think that XE 601 was ever operated by ETPS, but was a MoD PE aircraft operated by A Sqn AAEE at Boscombe Down. ETPS had 2 Mk 6s XE 587 and XF 579 on charge but I think that both were retired in the late 70s. It is interesting to look at the photo of 601 and notice that it is not fitted with standard sabrinas. Anyone know why? Interestingly 601 was a Mk 6 that was gradually upgraded to a Mk 9 but not, as far as I know, redesignated as such.

Hi,
Here is a view of my "Down and Locked " electric U/C control unit and the lighting system which does wing tips and two strobes ( one on the tail pod) plus 22mm landing light in the underside of the nose cone.
It all looks a bit complex but is actually easy to assemble and take a part when the turbine has to come out. The Merlin 140 has done well so far and hopefully will not have to be removed too often anyway.
The one battery drives the lights and U/C given the U/C takes such little current for Up/Down

Regards

David

Guys, what are you using for valves/tanks etc for the retracts and doors? I have a UP3 on mine and while it works great on the ground the forward nose door wants to push back before allowing the nose strut to retract. Thinking I need more pressure on the doors or perhaps a longer delay to force it open longer? Any thoughts from guys who are flying these?

Hi Guys,

Well I have finally started mine after a few unforeseen setbacks and the hysol is drying on the elevator and rudder control horns as I type. I plan on mounting the elevator servos tomorrow night. Just out of interest, are most people mounting the elevator servos on the hatches or in the stab? I'm using the futaba servos recommended in the manual. I was going to mount them in the stab and build up a spar box around the mounts to stop any flexing of the stab skin but I'm now wondering if the hatch mount would be an easier option?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Jeremy

On the one I did the servos were mounted to blocks and glued to the tail (and spar) But if you can get a good bond on the cover then NP.

UP 3 should be fine, are you running as short tube between the valve and ram?

Yes, the lines are short to the nose door. I'll play with the timing a little to speed up the retraction cycle on the gear. I'll also look at retracting the gear quicker on takeoff. Certainly seems an easier solution.
Will report my results. Thanks!

Jeremy, I used DS378 servos in the stab and Kennedy composites ds378 servo frame, aeropoxied to the upper stab surface.

Btw, anyone know if Phil is going to offer a few unpainted Hunter ejection seats? Hint hint Phil....

i met and spoke to Phil Noel about this at JetPower in September. At the time he said maybe late October; don't hold your breath tho, I got the impression that the seat kit is a low priority.

BTW:
a couple of pix of my Hunter at the recent Arizona Jet Rally. Paul Stenberg shot quite a few in flight pix (thanks Paul) but I've not gotten then from him as of yet.
the one in flight shot shows the nose gear door blown shut, shouldn't be that way, I had goofed the sequencer settings. It got fixed for later flights.
That's Chris Wolfe with me in the picture, he was honored to do the maiden. Thanks Chris!
