Why not put a patch on it or finishing tapes? If you are intent on removing the covering, use MEK to soften the dope.

'Cause the patch would be visible, and I'm on an insane quest for perfection

Thanks, I'll use the MEK. What's another 10 hours of labor? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.......

Most definitely. I have no brain cells to waste!

And then, after the removal process, I get to deal with the dope fumes again! Wheeeeeee! LOL.

A patch will crash proof the plane. If the patch is on the bottom (or top for that matter) it becomes an "access panel". Put a matching patch on the opposite side. Don't let ANYBODY tell you otherwise.

Questions:
1) how large is the pinhole?
2) what did you use to attach the fabric?
3) what is the topcoat? Dope, enamel, urethanes?
4) how did you build up the dope coats? Nitrate, butyrate, color?

I don't believe that you should have to rip off the covering because of a small fault. Can you post a picture?

Also, is the pinhole over a solid surface or open area? Big difference on repair!

Unless your finish is clear or translucent, a small silkspan patch will sand/feather out to the point where its virtually unnoticeable.

Hi!
Why not use automotive 2-part paint instead of dope!?
