Status: offline 		I have a large project that will start later this year and because of the type of aircraft I think im going to opt for a gyro on the rudder. I have been told the Mossi is a hand full on the ground so i thought it would be a good idea. Got the fuse in the other day and am buying all the gear for it now. I have never used one before and would like to know what the best gyro for this job would be.

Status: offline 		I've used a gyro on my little Sukhoi, because I'm planning to use one on the P-38 that may be finished some day. My experience with the cheap (well, for that price range) Futaba gyro has been good. The sensitivity is adjustable, and it was easy to use.

I will suggest you pick one up and see what it does for you on an aerobatic plane that you're already familiar with.

That sounds like a good idea i have a 260 i use for a motor breakin plane that would be handy for that.

The link to the other discussion thread that Roger provided has a ton of info; my own experience, I run a Gyro on the Rudder/Tailgear of all my tail dragging Warbirds; I have had excellent results using the Futaba 350GYA Gyro, which was a Gyro that could be used specifically for Airplanes, the 350 was single axis, the 351 was dual Axis, I use it in the AVSC Mode, I turn it on for take off, and off once in the air; unfortunately, the 350 or 351 is no longer for sale in the US; everytime I see one for sale I buy it up; however, the Futaba 401 and the Hobbyking Clone of the 401 I have read work just as well.

Another Gyro to consider which is made specifically for Planes is the JR G370A http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/g370a-aircraft-rate-gyro-JRPG370A when I run out of Futaba 350 Gyros these JR 370 Gyros look promising, the Futaba 401 should work, I have one but I haven't used it yet; the 350's were great because they were specifically made for planes although the 401's are pretty much the same and should work the same as the 350's

Status: offline 		A GYRO......come on guys......phyic They are great. I have one in my Grasshopper(J-cub). The G370A running abput $160.00 is a good one. Hey they use them at top gun and if it will get me in the sky and help keep me their....I will use it. Oct 2011 Fly RC has a little spot on it and in the Nov 2011 Model Airplane. Also on there web site you can read up on the use of them.

Not sure a gyro will be of much help on a Mossy. The rudder is so ineffective anyways. The best thing is to counter rotate the engines. A couple of my buds build a Smith Mossy (110") they had 3.2 brisons on it. (over powered for sure) It was very difficult to get in the air with the engines turning the same way. After counter rotating one, it was super easy.

BTW, The full-scale was steered using foot brakes.

124" will be cool for sure.

What retract are you going with. I remember them saying the Centry Jet ones were very pricy for the Don Smith one.

Status: offline 		It's the JR 370 A that you want to be looking at. The A means that it's for Aircraft only. Futaba dosn't have one for aircraft only. It's the latest in MEMS technology, and don't buy a cheap piezo gyro, I have had them fail.

And no shame if you value your aircraft.
