183526 -> RC motorcycle (8/28/2003 10:39:02 PM)

Here's a preview of my first prototype rc motorcycle. Just felt the need to share this with you. Please tell me what you think. I'm currently busy with one that's really professionally built (just bought a lathe). I'll post this asap.

Tell me what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here are some specs:
2,5 cc thunder tiger car engine
top speed :60 km/ph (about 40 mph)
mass: 1.8 kg
2 channel control
steering without simultanious braking!
front disk brake

drf -> RC motorcycle (8/28/2003 10:51:25 PM)

It looks very nice. Post some more pictures this is interesting.

Keep up the good work!!

183526 -> here is another picture, the proof! (8/29/2003 2:20:47 PM)

This photo was made during a low-speed pass past the camera. The motorcycle will stand on two wheels at about 8km/ph(5mph). No side wheels, so when it stops, it falls on its side (check out the protection bars).

Wow how long did it take you to build? Im very impressed. Great job.

183526 -> more info (8/29/2003 4:49:17 PM)

Hi

It took about 4 months to build, but this was not a full time job. The photo's are actually the fourth version. The first three were uncontrollable. After figuring out the dynamics the hard way, this is the first properly working version. I'm am particularly proud of the disk-brake, check out the photo.

greetz,

Peter

here are some funny ingredients I used:
1 HP deskjet 500, for main gear and all axles
1 ericson gsm for lithium powersupply to receiver
2 airplane wheels, modified to fit the rims
1 pvc sewage pipe for rims
about 5 euro's worth of scrap aluminium

kids: don't try this at home! (unless you have a spare of each)

rushdude -> RC motorcycle (8/29/2003 6:27:55 PM)

Wow nicely built. I bet you a crash with one of them thing would be cool to watch. :p

ShOzz -> RC motorcycle (8/29/2003 8:51:04 PM)

that is awesome.

Savage_Dias -> RC motorcycle (8/31/2003 2:43:21 AM)

YOU ROCK DUDE!!!

I've seen the department store bikes which work but are only worth having for their short lived cool factor. I'd love to see some video. Do you have plans for a body or rider?

Kick ass man.

183526 -> rc motorcycle forum (9/5/2003 11:58:43 AM)

I'm hoping to get a special motorbike forum. I have found other enthusiasts asking for the same. Even though the amount of people with these machines is not even close to any ohter usergroup, I'm sure that this will stimulate others to take up these airplanes of the road.

nodolarsnosense -> RC motorcycle (9/5/2003 3:34:57 PM)

awsome bike, great enginuity.

no body panelling needed it looks sweet as it is

Does it mono?

volks-kreuzer -> RC motorcycle (9/5/2003 11:05:10 PM)

I'll put that in english, does it wheelie?

Gabrill -> RC motorcycle (9/5/2003 11:44:19 PM)

Oval racing?

183526 -> no wheelies (9/6/2003 12:28:46 AM)

Sorry, no wheelies, as the front wheel is heavy!!!! There is a ring of lead inside the tire to increase the centrifugal forces that keep it upright.

I find racing in circles boring. The bike can steer in any direction at any speed, keeping in mind that shifting to much balance may cause the bodywork to scrape the road and lose balance(done that) (yes, the trick is not steering: the front fork is loose and will follow the right track any time, all that needs to be done is weight shifting)

more on that soon. It's pure physics.

183526 -> coming up : monsterbike (9/6/2003 12:36:38 AM)

My next project is half way, sorry no pictures yet, just be patient:

here are some specs:
3,5 cc Enya (yahooo!!!!) This might please the wheelie fans
single arm rear suspension
upside down front shocks
full aluminium chassis
semi offroad capabilies (huge tires- diameter = 12 cm)
built with tolerances of 0,025 mm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (i love my lathe)

pictures coming up, but there is problem ... Just bought a house so you can guess where my priorities are.

Pricey -> RC motorcycle (9/6/2003 1:52:47 AM)

Ill swap you a tamiya ta03 for it. : )

nodolarsnosense -> RC motorcycle (9/6/2003 11:34:37 PM)

Speedy Pete
