I get a lot of emails from tower as well, I will get one for planes and another for cars/trucks so its probably double what you get, its kinda annoying but also it is kinda nice to see what kind of "deals" are going on, and whats new

If it really bothers you, you can probably just filter them threw your SPAM filter in your e-mail settings, that way you wont see it in your Inbox, but when you do order or choose to view it, open your spam filter and find the emails (normally very easy as it should be set up to look just like a inbox but just with "junk mail")

Like I said, I don't mind getting deals once in a while,, but the increase seams to me like they've become desperate for sales

Rather than complain on an international forum simply unsubscribe. The link to do so is at the bottom of every ad. It would have been easier and definitely quicker than starting this thread.

Maybe he does not want to unsubscribe entirely... but enough is enough... getting hit with a SpanHobby message every other day is not going to get me to buy anything and it is annoying. Multiply that by five or six vendors and you are getting something hourly. I use a free e-mail account for SpamHobby so I never even open the most of the messages... When I am ready to clean up my messages, I use a search function to gather all the SpamHobby messages together, use the select all and delete them all at one time. That is much more efficient than one at a time.

Bob, I'm offering up a discussion, that's what these message boards are here for, I'm not complaining, I know how to unsubscribe or if push comes to shove block emails at the server level.. and yes I've considered doing just that as I have to many vendors who go to far.

The question is,, the increased volume of emails since the beginning of the year,,, does that surprise anyone or has anyone even noticed but me?

Six,,
You hit it,, I don't want to loose out on good promo deals and discounts from vendors I like

I guess I'm a little anal when it comes to un openned massages,, I just can't go into my email and see that little number (##) next to the folder and not go in and either delete them or open them so they get maked "read"

I agree, it is nice to get them on occasion and I think I would buy more often if I did not get a "special" every day, or every holiday. I have gotten my email accounts down to 5 or less emails a day, but it seems like I am only getting emails from Tower or hobby people.

I think Tower is losing a lot of business to these smaller cheaper companies and or to places like hobbyking. I know that I have been buying more cheap stuff and less stuff from Tower.

Tower and HobbyPeople seem to be neck and neck, Tower sent me 16 emails since the first of the month, HP has sent 17. If it gets any worse, I will be unsubscribing.

I hate Tower's policy of higher prices and then giving you coupons and promo codes, everyone else has better prices day in and day out. Seems the only time I shop there anymore is when I get one of their "we've missed you" $20 off $50 coupons.

Here's my solution, for unnecessary Email from

Travel companies
CAD/CAM companies
RC companies
etc

I simply use my Email service's "Spam" designation. With my AT&T Email, I open an Email, and when it's open a "Spam" button appears. I click the "Spam" button, and every subsequent Email from that address goes into the SPAM folder. I don't see it unless I check the SPAM folder.

Now I check the Spam folder every week, to see what I missed. Some times I'll open one, mostly I don't.

Best wishes,
Dave Olson

I treat my free e-mail accounts like toilets... I currently have 6800+ messages in the inbox... I just read off the top of the list and ignore the rest.... then when I want to retrieve something, I use the search engine. I use the spam trick too for some companies. Mostly, I just select all messages from a supplier and delete them all in one stroke.

I was getting tons of spam from Hobby King, Leaders, BP, Tower and Horizon. I don't mind a few but when they become a problem then I simply use the spam filter. That is such a easy thing to do I wonder why anyone would even mention it.

FWIW, Tower is one of the best RC distributors in the business so I'm happy to see them advertising and would like them to stay in business for a long time.

Do you guys know that you can setup rules in pretty much every email client (and webmail)?  I have all my tower hobbies emails (and others like it) automatically marked as "read" when they come in, and then they go into their own "RC" folder.  It doesn't clog my inbox up, and I just go in there and look at the latest offers when I'm ordering something.  I'd prefer to get too many offers rather than no offers

Well Said !

And , Welcome to RCU !

Duxbury is about 30 miles or so from me , , how'd ya like yesterday's wind ? I was actually planning to take a "least favorite" plane out and mess around with the wind , but ended up helping a friend fix a motorcycle , instead ....

Oh , and as to the on topic , , I dont mind pickin through all the Email offerings I get from the hobby companies , , , It keeps me up on what's new in the hobby , , , without paying a magazine subscription for an RC mag that is just about 90% advertising , anyway ........
