this is my opinion and my opinion only
i ran my 5sc against a losi 5ive yesterday and i'm not that impressed.
it's a nice truck but it's not all the hype i've heard.
the losi only has an advantage in the corners. and then it's not much.
my 5sc (box stock) would eat up the losi (stock but with a tuned pipe) on the straights.
we'll see how it goes after a few more races against it and the track gets smooth and dialed.
the track was rough but i stayed with him everywhere until either one of us made mistakes.

Im not into 4WD simply because there's almost no driving skill required...it's like point and shoot.

A friend of mine just recently purchased one, I like it A LOT more than my 5T. It's geared lower, so it's top speed is limited... but one of those BZM motors will be dropped in sometime in the near future along with a pinion change, it should be able to eat my HPI for lunch. It's heavy, but drives more realistically than any large scale car out there. It kind of drives like a 1/8th scale buggy, albeit a huge one.

Depending on the track conditions, you are entirely wrong about the skill needed...

Back in the day, I raced 1/10 scale 2WD electric mod buggies. I couldn't get enough racing, so I bought a 4WD so I can run in that class too. It was a decent sized track and very technical. The 4WD was WAY easier to get around that track than the 2WD. I guess it depends on the setup and the driver.

I understand the different qualities of both platforms and if this was just a racer's forum, I would agree that 2WD is better for race track scenarios. For folks who have jumped into 5th scale without any other real experience, they end up throwing money out their pockets cause they don't know what they are doing. IMO, the main example is folks bashing their largescale cars like their 1/10 scale cars and then find out they just can't go to their LHS to fix it , see the pricing, and quit the platform. Here in the States, we have a dismal scene when it comes to largescale RC compared to our overseas brethren. We need to keep folks in the sport and this platform to get more exposure. BTW, I don't know why Losi would introduce a 4WD unless someone wanted them in a bad way. I have watched tons of 5ive-T footage from folks recently, so it is filling a need here.

PS. All the best buggies I have ever seen were 2WD but I wouldn't run them around here cause some would get hurt if they cracked mine.

it is funny as the majority of 5b,t sc owners (in N.America at least)were all crying out for 4wd, losi filled the hole that hpi had decided not to.
i've had 2wd and 4wd and personally much prefer 4wd both for bashing and the track...both our tracks here are real loose surfaces, the 2wd 5b's really aren't fun to drive as they simple get no traction...on our track's loose surfaces, more like rally gravel stages, 4wd takes some concentration to get round fast, it's not as easy as is being suggested.

I was being facetious..I was saying the 5sc is just a baja with oversized tires...Its no fun when you have to explain yourself.

I love my Bajas but they are collecting dust since I got the Losi. The 5IVE is easier to work on too. Add a tuned pipe and bigger engine for even more fun.

I also had a fully decked out baja with an esp motor in it as well but sold it...I am a very strong supporter of the baja, if you look back to when the baja first came out I was a avid defender of it....I am not a supporter of the 5sc though..HPI did nothing for that so called truck. If you are going to make one then do it.. Don't just slap a bigger body on the baja and bigger tires and call it a truck IMO...
