How practical is it to paint an engine (DL50), header and canister? I have this set-up in a scale plane (Aviatik DI), and I'd like to "subdue" the brightness of the chrome canister and maybe the engine as well.

Saito do it with their GK series. Maybe high heat manifold or grill paint would work.

I use regular engine paint on my mufflers with no problems. I really don't recommend barbeque/grill paint though. Every brand I have tried "melts" or dissolves with only one drop of gasoline....

Thanks, I'll go with the engine paint.

John Deer has a good high heat black paint. It is no quite as flat as most high heat paint and is very durable. I use it on my snowmobile exhaust.
