Me too... That's what I put on the AR-6 that had it's test flight yesterday. Here are a few different sections that are commonly used. The 4 good ones have pretty much the same Cd at .2 and at .6 but there are variations. But clearly the S8052 is superior at higher Cl's. It also has a nice stall break. Of course this is computer-generated 2D data and not a 3-D wing, but hey, I don't have a real windtunnel in my backyard.

Gary,

It looks like you still have your AMA number from when we were kids?

Hi John. Yep. There aren't that many 5-digit number guys out there, so I decided to keep it instead of getting a 4-digit CD number. Nostalgia from our youth, I guess. We'll get together the next time I'm in town, probably for the October KCRC race.

Thank you, I'm glad that you like it. Now let's just hope that the "powers that be" like it enough to approve it.

When it is time to decorate the Q-40 there is a small decal set for a 1/32 scale resin model. It would be possible to scan it, scale it and print it on vinyl, etc., and have a realistic paint job.

Yeah!

I just received this note from Jim Allen...

quote:

Gary,

You are approved to move to the next step. The design looks great. Looking
forward to seeing it take shape.

Thanks,

Jim

OK, anyone out there interested in taking this to the next step?

I may take it on once I get the AR-6 wing mold done.. I'm doing another fuse mold for the AR-6 this winter to ease the manufacturing.. Other than that I will be without a project and we can't have that..
