I will try to get some photos this weekend....flat out with work atm.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I know, a mm is huge.....it might be a little under that but there is a heap of slop. Will have to look at the best solution to fix it I guess and report back.

Regards,

Craig.

Craig, I would still love to see some photos of the new model if you have time to take and upload.
Thanks

Thats a lot of nose weight. I got by with 29 oz (.93Kg). I would imagine that most of the savings was due to the P100 for power. I also put everything I could in the nose compartment. (Ev5 valve, two 2300 A123s, fill valves + gauges, switches, lighting battery, gear failsafe). I also used #9 lead bird shot in the nose ring with epoxy resin to get the weight as far forward as possible. The plane is a floater, I will be painting it now and would expect that I will need to add a bit more weight after it is painted. Scotty

Thats if you use the supplied fiberglass rods. The carbon rods do away with that. S

I flew mine last friday, and one guy that have seen the old version fly, told me that he could not see the wings flex in my new (2012) version. It was very noticable on the old version, I understand? Not hard for me to agree on that, as I can not see any wing flex either. I even had a WOT low pass (I know...too fast for scale flying) with a dive in the beginning and a "bit more than normal" pull up, and the new wings are solid

Where can I get carbon rods from? Does the new kit have the exact same size spar?

Just get a 12mm carbon rod, that's what I did for my old kit, lots of places to get that. I got mine from R&G in Germany.

Hi Kim,

nice job....please learn Russian and you can read all that stencils...dont be afraid...all that stencils do come from the Mig-29...rub ons did work...that´s good. have some problems with very flat/matt surfaces.

Been a great deal of talk about putting gyros on this bird, both tail and ailerons. Even CARF mention this in the manual.... How neccesary is it? Any of you guys actually flown this have any experience you care to share?

I have owned 4 of them and never felt the need for a gyro except in cross with situation where you can get bounced around a bit. Landings can be tricky if you dont get it just right, it will bounce and bounce breaking the nose gear mounts. I got good at replaceing them...ha

very good...!

you can reduce the landing speed approach...for slow touch down without bouncing...

The bouncy landings I understand have more to do with the use of full landing flaps thus generating too much lift in the ground-effect-zone. (the full-size were a little tricky in that respect too) A great cure should be using air-brake instead of full flaps. My question initially conserned the use of gyros........

Tow,
My very first CARF Mig-15 i never used the flaps (just speed brakes) and it was the most dependable landing Mig-15 i owned. The speed was a little faster but the seemed to "stick" a little better once she touched down.

My thought also. Seen a number of guys landing with full speed-boards and maybe some (take-off) flaps only. Was thinking this could be a good solution to avoid the dreaded bounce.
