Sounds good Skully!!

For those in the know about the City of Waco, can you tell me where is a good place to stay and places to avoid ?
Im guessing Skully would have me check in at a room at the Branch Davidian Hotel and Bible College !!

There are three hotels close to the field I will check them out and see if I can get us a deal on them.

If there are pilots out there that you know of that are having trouble getting regestered on the website please send me there info and I will get them on the list.
I will need names, AMA #, address, phone number, email address ( if they don't have one give one that can be used to contact them by), Radio freq.  If they have a caller that will also be racing give me there name too and we will try to get them in the same lane.

Send info to: jimmcguinn@live.com

Say it aint so and lets hope its just a rumor going around.
I just ordered me 5 of the 'SkullyCrusher' type of speed props . Maybe that will help me to overtake him on the 1st lap of the race?

You have to get off the ground and to the first pylon, before trying to run me down. You can ask most here in Texas, I'm pretty good at getting the jump on starts, after that is where i suck!!

The 'after' part is we're in the same boat Eric, LOL
We'll all still have fun regardless.
Is the runway there grass or asphalt?
I need to know whether to install my skyraider tundra tires or the Talladega racing slicks

There are 25 regestered so far.

You can check to see who is regestered by going to www.c40nats.com      or www.club40nats.com
and then clicking on regestration then event club 40

The runway is 75 by 800 paved and the polls are set up like they should be with poll #1 about 100 feet south of the start line and poll #2 300 feet north of the start line.

The polls are much closer to the runway than they were in Alabama and calling should be much easer

If I missed it what the format going to be for this race? Are we going to fly heat for points, and fly off ties, like The Nat's. Or are we going with the C,B,A mains as usual? If we were to vote, I'd like a Nat's style, with fly-offs.

I'm with Skully on this. This is my thinking: If you fly good all weekend and have a perfect score, you shouldnt have to fly another heat race and take the chance of losing an airplane, the race,( a muffler) lol.....racers should be rewarded for their heat races. We do the a b c mains locally and I dont mind. A championship race should be a minimum 8 rounds and fly-off ties. Just my two cents

Here's a suggestion. Finish the contest up with all places determined in the regulation heat races. Then make the A, B, and C Main's like a Trophy dash. It would be optional. The A Main would be the top 4 finishers. The B and C main's would be made up of the 8 fastest times outside of the top 4. This would keep some people from dropping out if they had a bad day Saturday. Over the years this has been done at a number of other races. It could even be a Calcutta event where everyone threw in $10.00 or $20.00, and the winner takes all? A variation would be to only 'seed' the top 3 flyers in the A, and B Main, and let the winners of the C Main and B Main move up. Greg

A question on the starts has come up, and I remember us, (Texas CD's) talking about this. On the start, do you have to go AROUND pylon 1, or just break the plain.

Most every race it is stated that you have to go around the pylon on the first turn, but in reality it seldom happens. Unless each pilot is below the top of the pylon,

the cut judge can only see that you broke the plane. ( no pun intended). A second, vectored judge would be needed to verify that the pilot went around.

I stay low on the start and go around the pylon. It makes me lose a little bit, but I hate cuts.

Here is a list of those regestered for the Club 40 Nats, If your name is not on it you are not regestered. At this time there are only 25 pilots regestered and at least one of these has said they were doubtful if they would make it due to work.

If the numbers do not improve the race may be canceled. I need to know by this weekend and will make the decision Monday.

Hey Jim,

Why would you cancel the race???? Even if we have 25 we still have a good race. I would like to have 100 entries but know its not gonna happen. I know of at least 6 people that arent on that list that have told me personally they will try to make it.

Lets race!!  60, 35 or 25, seriously, does it matter?  Let see now, vacation time taken from work, hotel rooms bought and paid for, new air frames and all the little things many of us have already spent money on, now your going to cancel?  This will be the nail in the coffin for me and club 40 racing.  If you cancel, good luck with future races. If you don't cancel, I'll see you friday afternoon on the 12th.

That list has 25 names on it, mine included, but I'm not racing, I will be there to help out officiate, I had read that all involved register on the list, therefore to date, there would only be 24 Pilots racing, thus far.

I know of at least 4 that have not regestered, Fred French, Richard Moll,G.C Dimmit, & Jerry Hellms  There are probably more.  I think part of the problem is that all do not have or do not use the internet much.  Don Stegal has prommised to change it where I could regester people who do not have internet.  If you know of someone that has not regestered.  Check with them to see if they are planing on coming and get me their information. I will get them on the list.  I was hoping to see Randy Ritch and Dub Jett on the list
