Status: offline 		hi..i bought a new batteryfor my plane..the old one was4.8 volts/600mAh the new one is 4.8 volts/2200 mAh. the new battery wont charge up.the light is on the charger so i think its charging but two days later and still no charge..what do you guys think is wrong?

What are you using to verify charge?

Status: offline 		im using a voltmeter for rc...it works because the radio batts register charged...could it be my charger wont charge the batt because its2200mAh,as opposed to 600 mAh?  thanx

Status: offline 		The "new battery" might be bad.
Some battery charges will not charge if the battery is drawing too much current.
I assume that the battery charger will charge the old battery.

Also, there were a few chargers that came from the NiCad days, were intended to charge both the transmitter and the receiver batteries, and did not work unless both were connected.

If it is charging the battery will be warm to the touch. Also check and see what the output mAh is for the charger, if it is only putting out 50 mAh then that is 44 hours or more since you lose some to inefficiency.

Status: offline 		I assuming you changed out a 600 MA Nicad for a 2200 MA Nimh. You are using the charger that came with your radio, correct? the charger that came with your radio is probably putting out between 50-70 MA. Not a good choice for charging that battery. I am also assuming, the battery you bought, is 4.8 volt and not a 6 volt unit. It sounds to me, that you might be better off, going and getting a 600 MA Nicad, which can be bought for less then $20, and saving yourself a bunch of extra effort and money.

Status: offline 		The old 50 to 70 milliampere charger will charge the 2000mah battery just fine, it will just take a much longer time, about 48 hours for a 50 ma charge on a fully discharged 2000mah battery. As long as the charger current is greater than the self discharge current, a charger will fully charge the battery if you give it enough time.
