capt17 -> Axe CP 2.4 - 2 questions (3/14/2012 4:43 PM)

Ok, I got my axe cp 2.4 about a month ago but probably only have 10 battery cycles through it just due to life getting in the way.

Question 1: Ever since I got it, the tail rotor motor makes this terrible low toned squeal noise when it rotates, kinda like a seal bark actually. It seems to work but might be a bit jittery and is just plain annoying to hear when flying!

Question 2: The wall charger is taking 1.5 hours to charge my drained battery. Does a nicer lipo charger charge faster or just have more features?  If  it is safe to charge it faster than the wall charger, are there any cheap options out there for under $30 to $40?

Thanks a ton!

Does the TR noise sound like an angry bee? That is what mine reminds me of. The TR motor is turning high RPM so the blade tips are going sonic. Seems to work fine though.

Wall charger does take longer as it charges through the balance connector. Other types of lipo chargers feed current through the power connector while balance connector does its job. They do charge faster. My depleted battery charges in 30-40 minutes on a Triton EQ.

Don't know of any chargers in that price range. Probably better to spend the $30.00 for another battery.

Yeah, maybe a really low angry bee. It just deosn't sound right but it seems to work ok.

Charging a battery from totally dead at 1C takes 2 hours. Fancier chargers can charge at higher rates, but only on packs that are rated for higher charging current. If you want to fly more frequently you should get additional packs so you can fly on another pack while you're charging.
