Status: offline 		i just bought the hitec aurora.I was reading that most lowerr cost processors are 10 bit and this radio has 10 bits.I also read that this chip gives this radio 1024 pixels.....and installing the xps modual will give this radio 6500 pixels i think.As well as make the radio faster.So does this mean that the xps modual will upgrade the power system of this radio to11 bits like the more expensive radios

Status: offline 		i read that the xps modual added more pixels and night and day response speed.Since i also read in another article that the reason this radio has 1024 p is because it is using a 10 bit ads or something witch are a low cost unit.I also read that the 11bit units are used in the higher priced JR and Futaba radios.I thought that since this XPS modual is said to add more pixels an increase the speed of the radio.Then does that mean that the modual holds the major parts of the radio.The processor can be upgraded to rank right next to the higher priced radios

Pixels are the components an image on your TV or Computer screen. A typical 17" computer monitor is set to 1024x768 resolution. An HDTV is typically 1080p. The larger number refers to the number of pixels that can be displayed Horizontally across the monitor or TV.

This has nothing to do with the Resolution of your RC radio transmitter. In that case, they are referring to the movement of sticks and the corresponding movement of the servos.

It appears that the XPS Extreme Link module provides extremely higher resolution - 65536 (16bit).

The new XtremeLink® module for the Hitec Aurora 9 transmitter was shown. This new plug-in module interfaces directly to the Aurora 9's CPU and does not use the PPM pulse conversion method that is common with modules. As a result, the latency over the stock Aurora 9 is nearly cut in half! Testing by top pilots prove a dramatic improvement in control response due to the huge reduction in latency and superior resolution (65536 instead vs. 1024). More information about the latency difference can be found here. The XtremeLink® telemetry data (including signal strength) is available in the Aurora 9's display. We are working on adding support for Eagletree sensors and Hitec's sensor station to go along with our own sensors. The module can be wirelessly upgraded using our XDP device. The XtremeLink® system also does not have the "dead servo" issue like the Aurora 9 system does. When the Hitec receiver loses data and a failsafe occurs, there is a period of time where the servos do not have any holding force (like no power). It is possible that the servos can sit in this dead state if the signal comes and goes. Expected release date is February 15th.

Most radio manufactures like Futaba and Airtronics use the 32bit H8SX MPU in there radios (like SD-10G or 8FG):

What we see as 1024 or 2048 steps is mostly the result of the potentiometers used.
Many analog servos and some digital servos are made for 8 or 9 bits anyway.

Also, you would not notice any difference in servo resolution between 1024 or 2048 steps flying your models. Higher numbers are more important for the marketing departments than for the us. I even doubt whether you can notice a difference between 1024 and 2048 steps an the ruder or ailerons.

If you want to make full use of, let's say 1024 steps, you should to get some coreless servos.

The servo seem to be more important anyway. The bottle neck is the servo motor and the pot. A 3-pole motor, cheaply made gear train and low cost servo pot will be most happy with an old 8 bit radio.
