Hi:

I bought the E-Flight Electric 25-46 size electric retracts and they are not operating correctly - I am suspecting its my end-point settings in my radio.  When I flip my switch to retract the gear, the gear retracts and stays in the retracted position for a few seconds. After a few seconds, the gear then extends and seams to repeat this process.  The gear does not want to stay in its retracted position.  If I flip the switch while this is going on, the gear extends and remains in the 'down' position.  My setitngs right now on my Futaba radio are at 135 100 100 135.  Does anyone know what I need to adjust to fix this problem?  Thanks.

AHHHH the wonderful world of retracts......sounds like either the mechanical adjustment or the as you said the end point is not allowing the gear to lock....I am not familiar with your retracts are you using a retract servo or is each gear on a seperate motor......I have used both, the seperate motor worked the best....
Good luck

Hi:

Each retract has its own separte motor.  I have been told it is a matter on and 'end-point' adjust in my radio but I just don't know where to go "higher" or "lower".  In he down position like I said, I am fine, its when I filp the switch to retract the gear that they go into this repeat motion of up and down.

If they work like my 60 sized E-flite retracts, I think you need to have the end points on your retract servo set to 100%, no more and no less. Which I know sounds crazy, since there's no retract servo involved. I had the same kind of operational problem on mine, and when I set the travel to +100/-100% they worked fine.

Since I've never used a Futaba radio, I'm not sure what your 135-100-100-135 settings mean. Also make sure there's no binding/friction in the system, as the motors typically aren't powerful enough to overcome.

Hi Fred.
That is not it - sorry to say.  I called Horizon and they even do not know the answer.  There is NO RETRACT servo - each retract has it's own separate moter.  The motor(s) are trigger off of set-points sent by your radio.  I don't have something set right in my radio.  They (Horizon) told me some things to check out - so I'll try those out this evening.  Thanks.  Its a simple fix, I just need to know what to change in my radio.

I was aware that no retract servo is involved. I initially thought that the retract motors worked off any change in position in the retract switch, and that they governed their own travel from full up to full down. But that doesn't seem to be the case, because mine wouldn't retract fully when I had a end-point inadvertantly set to 80%. So I think you're correct, something in your radio isn't quite set right. Let us know how you come out.

Fred:
A good friend of mine said that that Futabe radios have some 'end-point' issues / problems.  He went through something similar on his Furaba radio.  He told me to set the end-points to zero (0) and work my way up form there until I find the 'trigger' point that activates the motors.  He said to do one side at a time.  So I think I can do that.  Since I have one side working fine, I just have to use the indicator on my end-point screen to find out which set of "135  100" to move to zero and then start working up.  If I'm not mistaken, something flashes or blinks telling me which way (cc or ccw indicator) to go.  So I'll give it a shot this evening.

Problem solved !  It was a bad Y-harness.  The y=harness that came with the E-Fligh retracts was defective.  Everything works fine now even with the factory default end-point settings on my Futabe radio.  Very nice retracts.
