Hey guys, Im pretty new to the hobby. Im (re) building my Revolver 70" and I am thinking about installing a smoke system on it.  The revolver doesnt have much interior space so im having to get creative with mounting everything. The electric pump will have to be pretty close to the Rx (Futaba 617), so im wondering if it will cause problems. I may be able to mount it on the engine box, but it will make it pretty nose heavy as well as put it close to the electronic ignition.

I attached some pics to show where im thinking about putting the pump. Either in the canopy, or mount it to the bottom of it. The middle pic is just to show the Rx location.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I would try behind the tank, but test it at several ranges first to make sure you get no interference.

another thing you can try is to mount it on the firewall (That's the best place) and mount the battery in the rear of the fuse to balance it

I thought of putting it there. It will be kinda blocking the front of the other tank, which isnt an issue, I just wanted to be able to inspect the fuel lines easily. I think that may be the best bet. It will get a few inches from the Rx at least.

As for the balance, I have a LiFe 3200mah in the rear already. Im running the DLE20 on a .60-.90 size plane, So its balanced well before the smoke system, so putting the pump on the firewall will really make it nose heavy.

I think Ill just have to do some really thorough range checks while running the smoke.

The plane came with a 14oz fuel tank and i can only fit an 8oz smoke tank. So Im gonna use the 8oz tank for fuel and the 14 for smoke. The DLE gets good fuel economy. And Ive seen them eat up smoke oil fast without even a whole lot of smoke. I want my smoke system to be worth the effort.
