Its about time to replace the rear tires on my tornado.. Starting to get very poor traction..

I was thinking about getting just another set of the chrome rims and tires, Standard on the car..

I thought i ask here if there are any better options. I see the rims with no opening which seems like a good idea so nothing jam up my wheels.

Let me know.. Thanks

i must tell you most cars need to have both swapped. and with grass and pavement. just wheels zise being off will damage the diffs. so please save yourself some heartache and buy them both at the same time.

proline dirt hawgs are a great tire for you. go anywhere do anything

yes, i used those for a long time on my tornado.

the desparado rustler rears with the 12mm hex will alow you to us stadium truck tires, witch are larger, resulting in better overal traction.

the deparado rear wheels are instock on prolines website, the rears seem to work really well all the way around, so 20 usd will do yoa for a long time, the good looks are a bonus.

they are Pro Line Desperado's 2.8,  with Pro Line Dirt Hawgs.  I swapped out the axle stubs with the one's for a Volcano.  This let me use the double hexes that come on the Volcano to give me a little more width.  If your not changing the gearing, you want to stick with a 2.2 size wheel and tire.  I wanted some more ground clearance and was tired of the two speed so I replaced it with the Volcano single speed which is also geared for the bigger tires.  This to me was a big improvement over stock.

so if u don't wanna mess with the gearing then remove two front dogbones and make it 2WD.....and put bigger tires for more ground clearance... u think this would be a problem ?? any advice/suggestions ??

2 wheel or 4 wheel drive makes no difference with you gear ratio.  You need a lower gear ratio in the tranny to turn the bigger tires. You can put 2.2 size dirt tires on which are larger in diameter than the stock tires without changing your gearing, but you will have no power off the line and will likely burn up your clutch.  I tried this out originally with the two speed still in it just to see how it was with the larger tires. I liked the increased ground clearance.  But I couldn't get the larger spur gears I needed for the two speed to make it run like it did with the smaller tires.  Also, swapping the two speed with the Shockwave tranny was no help either for the same reason.  It's geared for the smaller tires as well without any options for a larger spur gear.  So this is how I wound up with the Volcano tranny to get the lower gearing for the larger tires.  I also use a 18 tooth HPI savage clutch bell.

well according to just looking at the picture on the Proline website, I'd say your stock gearing should be fine.  The tires your looking at appear to be low profile tires, which should be close to the stock size tires.  If you run a standard 2.2 size dirt tire, they commonly have a taller side wall which increases the outside diameter  giving you a taller tire even though it's still a 2.2 inside diameter.  The diffs will be fine either way with either size tire.  The only reason for the longer axle stubs is if you want to widen the wheel base a bit or for clearance issues with wider tires.

i got my first rc car 8 years ago, it was the tornado epx (27t brushed sealed can mabuchi style motor, A.M. radio, 1800MaH NIHM 6cell with tamiya concectors, dogbones the whole 9 yards) it was model #6 on the box, i got a mt a few years later and it was a huge number to where they had been adding letters into it.

i still have it, it's bl and 2.4Ghz now, but it's never going to leave.
