Well I've had some high's and lows with this converted 450GT FBL with the ZYX.  Got it flying perfect the other day did 5 batteries and loved it, 6th battery the Align DS420 decides it's going to break the metal spline in half that the horn slides onto.  Lost the tail.  Managed to land it hard on the skids, not too much damage apart from the usual blades, boom, skids and shafts.

Had another go the next day, 1st battery no problems....second battery I popped it into a hover about 5 or 6 feet up and it's got a bunch of right aileron trying to dump it into the ground.  Full pitch to get it up higer and struggled to get it under control and ended up hitting hold and picked up a twisted mess again.  Tested all the servos all good...it's like the gyro got screwed up or something.

Rebuild again last night....took it out this morning and popped it into a hover all looks good. After about 30 seconds the tail starts drifting all over the place and not holding on pitch changes...managed to land it.  #$@%#$%ing Align DS420 dead as a doornail.  Home again to test it.  It's dead electrically nothing, pulled it all apart no go.

Swapped the good spline off this one onto the other DS420 that broke the other day and re-installed it all.  Bench tested all ok.  Ran out of time today so it's all going to have towait till I get back from holidays now.

I think I jinxed myself the other day when I sprouted how good those ds420 tail servos were.  Mind you the one that failed today has about 100 flights and about 5 or 6 crashes on it.  I don't mind rebuilding these things but it wears a bit thin when your having to do it becuase of mechanical fauilure all the time.  If I crashed it because I can't fly different story but I'm passed that stage.  Can't wait to finish off the Tarot 450 PRO V2 FBL build when I get back.

Hope everyone had a great easter... I spent most of it with an M2 hex driver in my hand .

Hi Jonesy,

It also sounds like the ZYX is playing up as well, which coupled with a busted tail servo would make things very difficult.

I certainly have not been able to get my ZYX unit to be able to fly as well as my 3G, 3GX or Beastx. But I'll tweak it some more and see if I can get it right.  I do think you will find the Tarot a good step up in everything from the HK, and by the sound of it your flying skills are such that you will be able to appreciate the difference.

I thought you were going on a cruise??

Best

Phil

I hope the zyx is not playing up, I don't really need that to deal with as well.  I have one of the new zyx's on the way for the Tarot....looking forward to finishing that off.  From what I've assembled already it's streets ahead of the HK for quality.

Fly to sydney on Thursday morning to get on the big ship.

Jonesy

Nice blathering Brian....you have turned it into an art form. Thanks for explaining the glasses to me in the video...err sorry blather. Where did you source the camear glasses from?

Finally HK have shipped the what was a largish order that turned it into a smallish order....oh well......lessoned learnt.

Lots of gear arriving in Adelaide so I am informed by her indoors (wife)....bless her cotton socks she now refers to the spare bedroom I have gazumped as the "man cave". It has status!

Starting to get itchy fingers still a couple of weeks before SIM and maybe MCX2....got all the MCX2 and MCPX parts with me in SF, along with two battery chargers, Joaquin's camera bracket and spare mount, Loctite, Lube, some tools, yarda yarda and more bits due soon ....Aussie customs is  going to love me.....better get ready for the rubber gloves!!

Cheers to all,

Ian

Just noticed the Accucell 6 charger whilst it says 1S-6S the smallest balance charger connector is 3 terminal which I believe is a 2S. If my assumption is correct then how does one charge the 1S batteries I have for the MCX2 and MCPX?

No manual comes with it.

I also assume I will need a special cable from the charger to the 1S batteries....3pin JST to the micro 2 pin on the nanotech 1S batteries?

Some labelling on the Accucell 6 would nice or a manual......I suppose for the price!

The EC06-10 200w charger looks like it will cut the grade on the  2200mAh LiPos for the 450...

Cheers,

Ian

I`m not quite sure but I think it charges 1S battery through the red and black output. So you`ll need: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__18867__2_Pin_JST_to_6_x_E_Flight_Ultra_Micro_plug_Charging_Harness.html
And an adapter http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__19435__XT_60_to_JST_Charging_Adapter_2pc_.html

PS. Started typing early, posted late.

Hi guys, unfortunately back at work after a great Easter weekend on the farm. Had lots of wind and some rain but managed 3 lipos on the mcpx very early yesterday morning before the wind forced me into the Ostrich hatchery where I flew the last two. Did some hunting and but also lost a Giraffe that had a heart attack, my wife had to euthenaise it as it was struggeling to breath.

Well a bit more than 3 days then I can try again to get some helis into the air.

Brian, you get some fun there !

Edmund, you too !

I made some small progress on rebuilding & upgrading the Belt-CP... reversed a servo, checked servo centering and swashplate leveling... Well, if I keep the progress so slowly  then it will be finished in a couple of months...
Too bad as I would like to get it up in the air.

Hiya Edmund!

Glad you had a nice Easter weekend and sorry you had to leave the farm for work!

I worked but thank goodness there were no boating accidents on my end!

Sorry to hear about the Giraffe, my experience as a Wildlife Officer is that they can be pretty skittish?

Good luck getting into the air this coming weekend!

Hiya Ian!

Yah, at times I am prolific with the balderdash, piffle and poppycock!

As for Spyglass cams, I can't recall the vendor but this is an example of the cheap pair I have (Simon will have an aneurysm). They make HD versions I'm told but this is what I have.

Good luck getting through customs and the inevitable cavity search!

b

Edit: If these are legit, I am making them my next purchase when my sunglasses cam finally gives up the ghost!

Brian, our giraffe are actually very timid, we can usually approach to within 10 meters, either on foot or in a vehicle and they will just look at us, not however the case if there is a leopard or jackal around even if it is so small and will do it no harm.

May just have to run some lipos down a bit before the weekend as I had all the CP & BOL  lipos charged up for easter weekend flying. Fantastic weather outside now but stuck at the office.

But when I dont fly I buy.

And seeing as I love a good gadget I just ordered 1 of these. Sick of closing 1 eye while standing on 1 leg and holding a ruler with 1 hand while trying not to fall over and hoping noone walks in and sees my contorted body flopping all over the place.

While Im at it, do you have the the ebay link for the TT upgrade kit for the GT. Since everything else will be new, why not a new tail.

Hi Edmund!

A leopard or jackal would make me nervous too!!

Sorry about being stuck in the office!

This is my regular day off and Princess wifey and I are almost done with spring cleaning and will hang by the pool today!

Ohhhhhhh that is the poshist of posh git pitch guages I have ever seen!

I bought my T/T conversion from here. Phreakin' AC/RC doesn't offer the kit anymore. I have not used this vendor before so lets see (I don't want to jinx myself but have NEVER had a problem with ANY vendor I have ordered from on the web, EVER).

Here is another I haven't tried either.

Good, glad you used them before.

Something odd, the price for me is 28USD and when I checked out I wasn't charged for shipping.

Hmmmmmmm?

You may have found a free shipping shop there Brian.
This torque tube kit is at $23.12 in MM but it has a shipping cost of around $6.4
So except if you had something else to buy then you got it at a nice price there.

PS. My second, out of three, 2400mah battery arrived. So I now have batteries but no flying time!
I had an excuse before...

Good, glad you used them before.

Something odd, the price for me is 28USD and when I checked out I wasn't charged for shipping.

Hmmmmmmm?

b

You may have found a free shipping shop there Brian.
This torque tube kit is at $23.12 in MM but it has a shipping cost of around $6.4
So except if you had something else to buy then you got it at a nice price there.

PS. My second, out of three, 2400mah battery arrived. So I now have batteries but no flying time!
I had an excuse before...

Hiya Spiros!

Yah, it almost makes me want to order something else

I noted MM has been out of stock on this part forever.

I like MM but it tends to be out of stock on anything I need.

Are you back to work??

b

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info guys....mock away... big broad shoulders here.  Didn't want to get back to Adelaide in a few weeks and not have the right cable or connectors to make the cable to charge those pesky batteries up. Got the multi charge cable (6 way) already and now with the adaptor XT60>JST cable I don't have to excercise my pea like brain in working out the 3 into 2 senario.

I see those 4000mAh Lipo  batteries  are back in stock for the DX8 so I will order up a couple of those and a XT60>JST adaptor.

Have a good one guys.

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Brian,

Yes, now I`m fine. I`m still on medication but fine. Thanks.

The availability is something that annoys me lately (more than a year). Almost any shop is out of stock at one or more parts I want more than other and so I make no order at all.
This something that made me buy lots of Big Lama parts. As soon as I saw Esky has decided to change its reseller network policy I bought some stuff, including E500 fuselage.
Now it seems that only Heliguy has a stock of Esky helis and parts.
They tried to get away from copies (fake) and support one or two at the most resellers at a country, but this seems it works bad for them. Now the best seller, the BOL, is almost forgotten, cannot be found and parts are a problem too. When Esky birds and parts were widely available...

Miracle Mart is good when it has stock. I bought all the bargains there, the Belt-CPs, the Blade 450RTF plus lots of Belt-CP parts that were still available and some Blade 450 parts I thought they would be useful even if I don`t intend to fly it before I really practice on other cheaper to maintain birds.

E-flite has tried to make a good reseller policy but their products are on the expensive side, so it is difficult to be like Esky was (affordable and widely available).

Anyhow, I think availability is a huge problem these days, although there are less and less brands there. Well, it`s one of the global economical crisis problems...

Spiros
