I have this micro T here thats my friends and the motor wont turn when the throttle on the controller is pressed. The motor will spin if you connect it directly to the battery. It WILL however steer the wheels but wont drive at all. Ive taken a look at it and cant find any wires de-soldered from the ESC so I was lost after that. The guy that my friend bought it from said he would drive it on the carpet and hair got in it. Not sure if that would do much. But any tips or info about if I need a new ESC for it or not would be nice.

Thats a tough call because there are no programming buttons on the ESC and it is combined with the radio receiver. The problem may lie within the radio side. I cant remember if theres a way to calibrate the ESC but take a look at the owners guide or search Losi's website for a copy and see if there are procedures.  Otherwise it sounds like you will need to replace the ESC. That also means the radio system has to go too because they are integrated.

What do you mean by integrated? Ive never had to deal with an ESC before so im sorta just learning. Im not sure if the remote has to be changed though because I switched the crystals in the Micro T and put them in my Mini T and used the Micro T's remote and the the Mini T worked ok. The servos are kind glitchy when I use the Micro T remote though.

Right, you can change the crystals from the Micro and use them in the Mini because they are both 27mhz AM radios.  In most RC setups, the ESC (Electronic Speed Control) is a seperate device which takes battery power and cycles it off and on rapidly to control output to the motor.  This gives you the variable speed control.  It has a small lead wire that connects to the receiver which is another black box that receives radio signals from the transmitter and allows you to control the car.

In the case of the Micros and the Minis, the ESC and receiver are 1 unit;  all the electronics are made on 1 circuit board so, you can't just upgrade the ESC or the radio system.  It's kinda like in the old days with the TV / VCR combos.  If the VCR died then you had a boat anchor at the bottom of your TV and you basically end up swapping out the whole unit for a new TV with a separate VCR or DVD player.  In these cars if you install a new ESC, you also need a new 27mhz AM receiver OR a new radio system with a new Tx (transmitter) and Rx (receiver).

I think Losi built the electronics on these small cars like this to conserve space and to allow them to design and build a complete RC system that was cost effective to manufacture.  It just sucks a bit when part of the system malfunctions or you want to install a better component because you end up replacing almost everything but the servo.

Now he told me that he put the battery from a phone in it instead of the proper one. The phone battery is a 2.4v, and the original is 4.8v. I would imagine the lower voltage is why it wont work. My friend said the original battery exploded. So all It needed was a new original battery?

That would do it.  All ESCs need a minimum voltage to work properly.  There is also a maximum voltage level to consider too.  I don't know off hand what that limit is for the Micro electronics.  As long as you pickup a Losi 4.8v NiMh micro pack then you are in the green.

They do offer a 2S 7.4v LiPo and I've heard guys say it works with the stock ESC, but I don't advise it until you upgrade the electronics and go with a brushless system.
