sorry, dont mean to double post but, I just saw this electric boat area. "newbie in a rush mistake."

 Hey guys,

Im new to boats.
I just picked up a HF 28" twin with brushed 370's in it.
I cant seem to pick out the brushless "upgrade" to these motors. I have two 30 amp. speed controlers to use. and programable radio gear so, I can do the mix for directional thrust from each prop for steering.
I just dont know how to convert the numbers to pick the corrct motor. I want to make it faster. of as fast as my two 30- amp controlers will allow.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

I found this,

it will run with a 30 amp. esc and its water cooled.
I'm assuming that a 400 is faster than a 370??
also, i think any brushless is way better then a brushed motor.

I have lipo batts, radio gear and burshless esc's all i need is a little help with the motors.

Opinions ???

Think you want to aim for 28,000 rpm. So the kv of the motor should be 28k/voltage of lipo.

Are you sure you want an outrunner?  Are you replacing brushed inrunners?

Thanks Gold, thats good info. now I have something I can work with. Thanks.

Huck, your right on the inrunners. I saw these and they have a water cooling sleve. so, now I have to find Inrunners with water jacket and 28000 / 11.1 volt= 2545 or so Kv motor???

Am I even close here?

ok, so, this is what i am looking at now.
any comments would be greatly appreciated.
2- water cooled 120 a. esc's
2- 3660 3060 kv brushless IN runner water cooled motors.
these motors are a little fatter than my current cradles but I can fashion the cradles to make them fit.
also, I am going to add longitudinal stringers to the hull. Maybe Transverse stringers also, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I had a brain storm about using rivets with the pin's out of them as through hull fittings for water exhaust from the cooling system. I.m still working on the cooling water intake pick up/up's.

as I use directional prop thrust for steering I do not have your more common water pick up in a rudder as i guess most of you do.
so, a bent tube just under the hull pointing foward may do the trick. ???

those motors are wayy to big for that boat espically with two. the weight with those and 3s batteries would be quite large as well. if your dead set on running twins id go with a smaller can motor, the first two numbers are the can size and the second two are the length, for example your 3660 is a 36mm can thats 60mm long the kv should be about right though you should stay in the 3000kv ish range and a esc that can handle the motor you want

Thanks, 128.
are the motors you suggest water cooled?
is HK a good source for these.
I already have two 30 amp esc's for brushless but, I am not opposed to getting others if needed.
