I bailed out because of the cold more than the wet, the wind made it freezing. Siberia with grass is what they say about that part of the sceptered isle. Still, got sunny Florida to go to on Wednesday for a few weeks The new jet will have to wait till I get back to test fly.

I had around 6 flights today and Little Stevie flew 2 of mine as well. Will post pixs when I get home. I guess 10-12 turned up today

Day was wet, but not too cold, wind was at a slight angle to the tarmac we used, but all perfectly flyable. It took sometime for the rain to stop enough for constant flying and by then a few had bailed out, but I managed to fly 4 or the 5 models I'd packed in the van and I enjoyed the flying...tomorrow Mmmmm interesting. There is at least a heated building we had access too
Boomerangs were the model of choice, easy to put together. I also flew my Ready2Fly Venom, EDF EFlite F4 and Habu 32 Turbine (oldest flying Turbine Habu in the world )and my brilliant fun Nano.
Little Stevie (who took most of the pixs) also flew my Venom and Nano. Darren French, Simon Potter and some of the Northern posse were flying too....

With 24 Hours of steady rain at home, and a forecast of another 12 hours along with high winds at Wittering I reluctantly decided not to attend the event. I was greeted by a neighbour yesterday afternoon who had his small dingy outside the garage next to mine, I think he was trying to tell me something, although it really was a bit small to be called an Ark.

Dave Wilshere really deserves an award for perseverance, or perhaps he is developing some new waterproof systems!

Seems like we all drew the short straw this weekend, shame because Wittering is great airfield and home to our Harriers for many years.

They have all gone now as the Govenment has flogged all 74 Harriers to the US Navy/Marine Corps at a bargain price which in my opinion is an utter disgrace.

The UK now has no carrier based fixed wing strike aircraft capability  for many years yet.

If events kick off in the south Atlantic we might be caught with our pants down !!!!!

Phil.

Same at that!
We have weather that can only be described as 'biblical' this has got to be the wettest drought in history
The forecast for Wittering was VERY bad, so we have decided to stay home today...
Looking on XC weather it looks like we were right!
Real shame

I live in S.E. London near Bromley, and it's been peeing down most of the morning here, sorry if your Wittering weekend is a washout, never mind Jamie, good effort chap in getting it all organised

Thanks for the comments guys but it is Roger Kilbey who is the main man for the RAF meet organisation, the rest of us help where we can but Roger is the one who has got it all moving. The next RAF event is at Wyton on June 2/3, Roger has already recce'd where we will b flying and it looks at as though we have a fantastic site to fly on as we are on the main runway.

But before Wyton we have Topgun at Merryfield on May 19/20.
