Had two more flights on the f14. Will try to get video & pic posted.

The first flight was great, landed great & slow with no flaps.  It's a Lil hard to see but it flies very smooth.  The second flight was great but had fludder on right rudder.  I will need to fix it like the left one that had flutter last week.  I would just glue the tube inside the rudder & not use the set screw  its just not holding.

This plane flies great!  I will fly it again next weekend, hopefully put 3or 4 flights before heading to Mississippi Jets!

Is the rudder flutter a manufacturing problem or an oversight by the builder? Seems to be a common occurrence.

it needs to be redesign.  the set screw system is just not strong enough to hold in the wind.  Dubd you will love the way this Jet flies it really is a ****cat.

so far the only 2 mods. the cross bar and the rudder.

Would a flat spot on the shaft work?

okay cool, I have a friend who has a cnc machine I will just have him make something better, I bet a clamp type would work. You said yours stripped? is that the problem, is it the control horn that goes on the shaft to soft and the set screw strips there or just the allen set screw itself thats strips? Sorry for all the questions just brain storming.

I wonder if Barry will fly this Sunday or next. This Sunday might have winds up to 25 & 30 mph.   I plan on going out next Sunday.  I am bringing it to Mississippi.

Wind is predicted 5-10 for Sunday. The test flight has to be done this Sunday as the following Sunday Barry will be loading for Top Gun. I'll be leaving for Top Gun either Sat (28th) or Sun. (29th) then flying to Jackson the following Wed. for the Afterburner.

Warrenson,

I love flying the F14. It lands perfect with no flaps. Those who are worried about the landing stop as it is very predicable no tip stall at all. Warrenson once the rudder is repaired this should be a great flying jet. I guess a few more flights then time to sweep the wings. I look forward to that.

This plane handles the wind well. I like the big heavy metal jets they just fly better.

Weight waiver is now completed.

Wish I could afford one but Warrenson has been kind to let me fly it.

Thanks

i've flown it and i would have landed it if did not started fluttering, but since i had an experience jet pilot standing next to me i punted, it was the right thing to do.  thanks Kevin .   I will fly it and land it next weekend as long as the weather is good.  if the weather is not good will be at mississippi with the f-14.

Warrenson,

I would wait till Miss as you will have 5000 of runway to land on instead of 650. Just a suggestion!!!

thanks kevin for the advice, but i want this thing to fly in houston first without any issues.  If something goes wrong i have the ability to get it fix before mississippi.
