This was truly a shock. Mike flew with us in Alexandria at our indoor venue just two weeks ago. I can't believe he's gone. He was a great guy and will be sorely missed.

I believe Mike would want us to remember the good times with him, however, so in keeping with the spirit of celebrating his life, here's a picture of Mike at our fun fly last year after completing the maiden flight on the GMP Gee Bee R-3 for an RCU Review. I think the trademark grin on his face says it all. He was doing what he loved!

Happy Landings Mike!

Wow!  What a shocker this news is!

I never met Mike, but without a doubt he is the sole reason I stuck around this site.  Not to say that this site is bad...its just I found the place and posted a question about getting back into the hobby and which radio I should by.  Within minutes I had a PM in my inbox giving me very sound advice.

As an owner of several websites and discussion forums...I found it refreshing that someone took their time to PM me first without even asking for it.  I thought..."now this is a good place to be".  I wish some of the mods at my own sites were as professional and as dedicated as Mike was here.

Anyway...even though I never met him, I felt like I knew him.  Im sorry for the family's loss, and I will surely miss reading his posts here @ RCU.

Prayers and Condolences.

Oh man, that is sad. I never met him, but it feels like I've known him on RCU forever. I still can't believe we won't see his animated 3d Extra avatar keeping trolls at bay here anymore. Does anyone have details on the service yet, or is it private?

This is certainly sad news! Though I have never met Mike in person, I have read many of his reviews and posts here on RCU. He has been a pillar of this community for as long as I have been a member and I have always had much respect for his opinions and writing. My prayers and condolences go out to Mike's family.

Wow, what a shocker, so unexpected and what sad news. I had just been talking to Mike about doing reviews. I'm just at a loss because it seemed all was A-OK.

When someone finds out more could you share with us please?

Condolences to his family.

I want to express my sadness in hearing of Mike's passing. I too felt as though I knew him although we had never met in person. In reading Mike's articles and postings you get a feel for the writers personality. He was a kind and helpful person. He will be much missed around RCU. Rest in peace my friend......My prayers go out to his family.

Sad news indeed.

I first met Mike in Owatonna in August 2009 and as everyone knows he made me feel like we had known each other forever. Meeting and talking with his father last year was a highlight too.

Our condolences to the family. If there is anything that we can do please get in touch.

We're looking at car pools from the Cities for Saturday.

I'm wondering if the dress code should be large hawaiian shirts and straw hats for all his RCU friends. I think he'd like that.

Very sad that I never got to meet him in person. We talked here in the forums and on the side a few times and he was always very accomodating and willing to share. Even if he disagreed with you he had a courteous and  non-condesending way of expressing himself that is rarely found. He will be missed.

Being that Mike was one of my best friends I would say that this dress code would probably fit right in at the service!!!

Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make the service as I have to here in Toledo. But if I was, I'd have my flying gear on!!!!!

Ken

My wife and I had picked up a couple of rose bushes for our yard here in Cedar Rapids. It seemed fitting to say a short prayer for Mike and his family while planting a rose bush appropriately named "Wild Blue Yonder".

Regards to all,

Mike Buzzeo, AKA Minnflyer was a pioneer in bringing the internet and model airplanes together. it is great how he could bring the sport to everyone, and is a true Hall of Fame modeler.
