 Hi Guys,
I'm setting up my new Kingcat and this time around decided to try the AMT Pegasus.
The Peggy as you may know is probably one of the heaviest turbines around .
Plus I'll be adding a 1~1.5 lit smoke tank  + Pump etc
Many of the new gen turbines producing similar thrust are far lighter (Thrust to weight ratios)
Considering the weight penalty do you think its still worth putting a Peggy on a KC or should I just choose something like a Rhino ?

AMT Netherlands vs. a Rhino?

Hahahahaha. Peggy.

KC's are so lightly loaded it is ridiculous; Don't worry about the extra weight. I doubled up my "Brake-away Plates" and she flies like what she is: An Aerobatic Trainer.

Good luck!
Shaz

Xantos:

I had the same question, I will maiden mine with a Rhino, but would like to use the Pegasus on it, being an exposed engine installation, the clean chrome look of the Peggy goes better with the KC, while more thrust sounds better, I feel the 28-30 pounds of the (Old)Peggy should be good for the Big Cat. Let's see what others tell us.

I have two Kingcats. One has a Merlin 140, the other a Wren XL 200. Both fly very well.

Jim I have a KC with a XL200 too ! It has over 150 flights on it now , the XL needs to go back to Wren for a check up.
KC + XL is a great combo but a little more power would be nice.

Craig- Did you end up with any extra noseweight on your KC with the Peggy ? How much downthrust did you need on the turbine ?

2 or 3 washers under the forward mounting screw as I recall. With the batteries in the nose I did not need any extra noseweight.

Two #4 flat washers under the front engine mount screws... As far as nose weight, I wouldn't think so... The KC's tend to be nose heavy any way best I can tell... Seems battery's don't seem to end up in the nose.

I've got two a123s in the nose and an 11v lipo on top of the center fuel tank, no nose weight required. Two washers under the front mounting lug and you will be good to go.

Peggy on the back of mine
