Hey Tim, This might turn out to be a MAC as in Daddy Race. This new guy was racing Gas powered boats before and wants to try his hand at Club-40 !!! You should see him going around the poles with the steering wheel transmitter .....
Now !!! Think about that one .

Well boys and girls, we had a great time today at the 'mock" race! A few fresh new faces from Eclectic, Al came up and watched us as they wanted to find out all they could about joining us in the Club 40 circuit. And let me tell you, we didnt dissapoint them either. They got to see it ALL!

D2 cooked us up some 'mock' burgers on the mock grille and we all ate a mock lunch. After the mock lunch we all got out and turned and burned a few more laps. It was going good too,...... until,.....we had a mock mid-air !
Jim Andrews and I were turning and burning and one of us turned and one of us burned and went straight resulting in some incredible mock carnage!
I think I should have bought some World Models stock a few years ago!!!
Anyhoo, here are a few faces (with some of that carnage mixed in )that attended practice today......
First we have Big Ol' Mellon Head D2, aka David Phillips II, then we see "Bos" Randall Bosworth chatting with Big Ol' Mellon Head D3, aka David Phillips III

...and as Paul Harvey used to say,... "and now for the rest of the story"....
[image][/image][image][/image][image][/image]

You know, I cant swear to this, it may have been just the wind howling and playing tricks on me but Im thinking I heard somebody from the pit area shout to the other 2 flyers who were on the flightline ( that would have been Jim Andrews, Bos and myself ) when the mock mid-air happened ...." TAKE McGOWAN OUT!!! MOVE HIM OUTTA THE WAY!!! Nah,... they wouldnt do that,...would they???

Again, it was a good day to get out and many thanks to Dave PhillipsII and to the Alabaster crew for allowing everyone to come down and have some fun today.

John

Coming from you , I'll take that as a compliment D2

I just came up from the man cave surveying my stuff. Riddle me this: how in the world did Jimbo manage to get a piece of ply stuck in between the cooling fins IN THE BACK of my mota and break a small piece of fin off back there? Thats WEIRD!!!
I took my mota down and cleaned her up since it had quite bit of Shelby County dirt ingested in it. I think she's good to go again
now ( hopefully anyway) . I put a can of "Harvest Kwik" in it and I think it will be ready to ride again come race day on the 28th.

Buddy, I had a good time in spite of raining a little balsa. Thanks again. I appreciate it.

Funny! Practicing Mid-airs! I don't need no practice, BOS either. We tangled it up several times in one heat last season.

The wood got stuck in the rear cooling fin by the airframe trying to pass it when it suddenly stopped! Crunch!

The wind here was just to much to be any fun Saturday and Sunday so I kept my planes on the ground. Maybe next weekend.....

Great to hear that we will have some freash meat for this season. See you guys on the 28th!

Tim

But it wasnt any of my wood Battman, it was the other planes I think anyway. It was midway the length of the head in the back, thats what was so weird. Darn that Auburn plane!!!!
ROLL TIDE ANYWAY!!!!!

Wind, what wind?? It was only blowing around 18 to 20 Saturday. If your skeered, just say your skeered. LOL

Maybe he'll try and cover himself up with his Battcape and go hide in his Battcave until the winds die down ?

You haven't experianced wind until you have flown through the "tunnel" at Epps Field. When the wind blows hard from the West we get some really dirty air over the trees which makes landing a bit of a challenge. Many a plane has been eaten by the tree monsters during windy days.....

I'm just playing it safe so I can give you guys a whoopin' on the 28th.

Bring it on!
