I remember reading a post somewhere recently that mentioned that the Graupner Kwik Fly MK3 ARF was not on the Hobby Lobby Web site. I'm not sure if it was here or on RCG, so I'll post this in both forums.

Apparently Hobby Lobby is no long the US distributor for Graupner products. The new distributor is V-East and they do show the Kwik Fly on their Web site, although it is listed as being out of stock at the moment.

For those whom might not be aware. The Graupner Kwik Fly ARF is not the Phil Kraft design. It is a Kwik Fly in name only, as the design and structure, apart from being a single engine, low wing, monoplane, are completely different from the original.
It should not be considered in any sense a classic pattern aircraft.

Wow, that sounds disgusted! Could you specify a bit more what you mean?

All I know is that Graupner brought out a licensed version as early as Feb. 1968. There's a nostalgic web page about it (be sure to scroll down to the red links to an explosion view and a 3-view). There were marginal modifications like better nose landing gear, smaller canopy, and structural strengthening.

Of course the ARF may have different internal structure due to modern design and production methods. And of course they modified the nose to accomodate a modern engine and cowled it (even though it still could be mounted upright). And they added a retractable tall landing gear to allow for the bigger props in use today and because people like retracts and would ask for them, anyway.

But I thought planform and general shape are still the same. Do you know more about that?

Here's a maiden-flight video: at YT (engine mounted the old way).

It looks like one of Phil Kraft's designs to me.
Some people are very literal in their opinions on what is an accurate representation and what is not.
I've seen one of these in person and it was not flown but looked very nice.

The Graupner company bought out Phil Kraft's kit making business in the 60's.  Only minor changes were made, but even if not,  those are old enought to be considered a classic pattern in their on right.

Wow, another one! I didn't even know that Phil Kraft had an own kit making business, I always thought Jim Jensen kitted the Ugly Stik and the Kwik Fli (even though some people say he kitted only the Mk II). Anyway, Graupner brought out their kit in 1968 and at least the Top Flite kit must have been produced at the same time. So was there really a buy-out?

You are right I was thinking of the Jensen kits.  But actually it was lincesed to both them and Graupner at the same time.
