Many years ago a speed flier told me Wesson brand cooking oil would mix and burn like synthetics. That would have been late 1970's.

Funny because my wife just got a gallon of Coconut Oil delivered to the house BUT seeing as how its $55.00 a gallon I dont think I'll even get a drop.

Castor oil is the first choice as it has a lot of ideal properties for model airplane glow engines.
In a pinch one can use Olive Oil if it is the good quality oil not the cheap stuff. Several people have used it in Model diesel engines and some people used in in RC car engines without any problems.
I don't think anyone Coconut oil yet. It might work as it doesn't gel or polymerize until the temps exceed 500 degrees C (932 degrees F).  So it does look promising. Unfortunately it does cost a lot more than castor oil does.
